These are a good item to buy used on here or on CL. Lots of guys upgrade their headlights with aftermarket ones and these can be found semi cheap

But like mine the stock headlights are yellowed out or burnt from the sun in most cases

If the lenses on yours are burnt, you can try going by the dealership and see if they'll replace them for you. they replaced mine on my 09 with some that had glass lenses in them instead of the yellow ones that burn out. Didn't cost me anything

The output on those is second to none! How much do the bulbs cost, and do they seem to last a while?

I am so stoked to get my 4.10s and trutrac put in next weekend. Truck is gonna be a torque monster!! :D

The ulitmate headlight upgrade, its a wiring harness increases power output to blubs to burn brighter with uograded halogen bulbs also heres the thread. I dont gey flashed those are high beams still maintains stock cutoff on high an lows https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-ultimate-headlight-upgrade-h4-not-led-or-hid.398066/
I am running the osram 85/90w bulbs they been in since FEB no dimming whatsoever. I have a little stock pile Id be willing to sell ya new they were 35-40 a pair so worth it. They stopped making this particular bulb but have 90/100w now from what ive read low beams just as bright highs a little dimmer I believe.

    Morning guys

I'd stay away from LED's. There are some that claim to be vehicle specific, but because LED's light is emitted in all directions, the reflector becomes useless and does not focus the light where it is needed. Yes, you may technically have brighter lights because you have more lumens, but the light doesn't shine where it should and all too often just blinds oncoming traffic.

This is a great article on TW about headlights, it's very informative.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-ultimate-headlight-upgrade-h4-not-led-or-hid.398066/

    Definitely.

If you ever see a car that uses LED's from the factory, check out how weird the housing is. What they had to do to focus the light. Compare to our headlight housing.

Got a sure-fire method for restoring lenses? My wife's FRS could use some TLC.

Ill have to take a look at this sometime. Looks like all of them come with projectors from the factory though.. Ill never go back to LEDs personally. I like them for fogs, but im about to put projectors in those. They're also good for license plate lights since they rarely burn out, but ill never put them in my headlights again. even if I get projector headlights, ill probably still use halogens

I have had good success with Meguiars plastix restorer, but it doesn't seem to last more than a few months. I've read you can buff on the headlights, use a headlight restorer, and then clear coat the lenses and that seems to work, but that is very labor intensive

Very interesting.. I might pick those up from you whenever I decide to upgrade. Do you just have them left over because you're running a higher wattage bulb now?

I don't mind labor as long as it's permanent, more or less. Redoing it every few months actually seems more labor intensive to me lol

Did these come stock? I like em!

Yeah good call! I have only heard that is the case though, haven't actually tried it myself, so cant speak from personal experience. I might give it a try once I have some free time though
