What kind of Short bed cover is used by Tacoma guys the most and what do you put on the bed floor for protection? Will put a pict up soon, but it looks like the other 100 a day I see around town.

Lots of options for a cover. For the floor of the bed, get the OEM bed mat.

Study the various features of the bed cover options, as they dont all work the same.

Then zero in on the ones that work the best for how youd use it and reask your question with a list of 4-5 models on your shopping list.

OE bed mat. Some cut horse stall mats to fit, which is fine too, if you like those projects.

Look at underrail bed lighting by @mattgecko because its going to be dark in there with the cover on.

For the bed cover it all depends on your needs/wants. First do you need a soft cover or hard cover? If you want soft do you want a full roll up or a tri fold? If you want a hard cover do you want tri fold or full lid that opens like a trunk lid? So many different ones and so many different price ranges.
I chose a soft roll up because I utilize the bed for both small items that need a little protection during transport as well as large items that will require the full bed length.
There is a section here just for covers, let me see if I can link it.
