The bodyshop that had my 2013 asked me if I wanted the truck back or not. I said I didn't (the frame was heavily tweaked) and they said great, we'll write a frame and that was that.

Had I wanted to save it, they would have written it up as a pull and maybe then a replacement. I was happy with the result even though I miss the truck.

Kinda sucks too that they take back the rental after 30 days and you are on your own afterwards.

    Yep.

I had two days of rental left when they finally totaled my Tacoma. They kept ignoring my calls and whatnot. I wanted to discuss the payout with them and they kept ignoring me because I wanted to make sure I had the mods paid out or I was taking them. I had like a day left where I still had access to my truck and I called and said I was taking everything if they didn't get back to me. Magically in 5 minutes I got my first return call.

Same thing happened with my wife's CX-5 when it got totaled on me (it was a rough 2016). Insurance dragged their feet and tried to pull our rental super fast. I ended up having to buy a replacement car sooner than I wanted, but so be it.

We had a total loss from a fire recently with Allstate. They weren’t the easiet to deal with considering it was going to be about a 5-600k payout. Whenever I dealt with them before on small accidents they were great but on big claims their just like every other insurance company and they only look out for their bottom line not yours.

Finally settled with Allstate. They said it was a total loss. Allstate was very fair with the settlement. Picking up a new TRD Sport 4x4 tomorrow. Sad to see one go, but looking forward to the new one. Thanks for everyone’s input

Allstate did the same thing to me. Sat on my repair estimate for four weeks. My accident was super minor, just a bumper and a headlight basically. I am switching insurance companies even though it will cost me an extra $1000 every year because the accident was considered my fault.

This thread has me on pins and needles.

I posted back on 11/14 about my 2013 getting killed and then this past weekend I got bumped in traffic. My truck doesn't look damaged from 5 feet but I've been scouring the frame trying to confirm it's still straight. I don't want to / can't build another truck at this point in the game.

I put this on my 2018 TRD OR the day I got it in Sept. Looking at trucks over the summer it didn't take long to realize things are pretty flimsy and won't take a hit. I had an '81 Hilux SR5 4x4 fully armored including a dual 3" tube Smittybuilt rear bumper. I was rear ended at a light by a car. Car was not drivable and all I had was a scratched bumper, not even bent.

Might help, can't hurt. Hope I don't have to test it.

Turn a negative into a positive and have insurance pay for it! Needs a new rear end anyway, Haha!
