@Gaunt596 brought his up this past Sunday. It shot so nice and I read a lot of good reviews so I had to have one. And it was only $440.

That looks like the G17 mag version, nice. I had the G19 mag version but the grip was more like a Glock 26, very very short. Still shootable but my pinky finger wouldn’t fit on the grip. The G17 is the cat’s ass!

Hm. Can never have too many coolers. I keep a RTIC 65 on the boat and my 30 softie goes most places with me. Do I need a 45?

Yep g17 mag. But with my big hands my pinky still doesn't fit on the grip but the extended mag helps with that issue.

You'll like it. Just make sure you get a rubber cover for the bolt tube so it doesn't kill you cheekbone, and the urethane buffer for it goes a long way in reducing felt recoil.

Plus, I work with @Montauk17 and he lives right next to you, so it'd be very easy to get it to you.

I purchased the Baofeng UV-5R (the previous model) last year for like $20. Found it very hard to use. It was recommended to purchase the cable and software to program it, but the reviews mentioned mass incompatibilities.

I gave up. Looks like a nice unit.

    Hi Tom,
Yeah, from what I read, when I compared them both, this version is a little more polished and feature rich. I didn't just rely on Amazon for the reviews, which are all favorable, I also checked out some of the HAM radio review sites. It seems to be very popular on those as well. When I bought it, because of the lightning deal, it was only $40. shipped. It includes the charging base, and an earpiece attachment I will attempt to use. The "rubber duck" style antenna is supposed to be reconfigured on this model to have higher gain capabilities. If I have problems I will just replace it. I have the same intention with the included mic/earpiece setup. If I find it troublesome I will just replace it with either a VOX mic or a VOX boom mic headset, the latter being my preference.

One good think about this little HAM radio is that I can dumb it down to non licensed channels. If I like this and it does turn out to be something worth while I'm going to get another one. The wife and have always talked about her needing a way to communicate with me when I am out ont he property doing chores. We've tried our phones but with ear protection on using a 65cc backpack blower that puts out 75db(A) it's a little hard to hear anything. So I am hoping I can keep the earpiece in while wearing the ear protection. Since I can dumb these down, the wife can communicate with me without needing a license. Then on the trails with the guys I can go full power and use repeaters in remote areas.

The last time I was ever OTA was in the 80's and that was on a Midland 40 channel CB, so I am really excited about getting back into this. I'll keep ya posted how it goes. :D

2019 Cement Tacoma TRD Off Road
Hey all! Pretty new to the Tacoma forums and thought id introduce myself. @RobP62 found me on another thread and lead me in this direction :p
I purchased a 2019 Tacoma Offroad DCSB cement about 3 weeks ago and love it. I previously had a 2016 Toyota Tundra but decided to sell that and my daily driver and keep one vehicle.
I reside in the surrounding suburbs of Baltimore, Howard county to be exact.

In the past 3 weeks, I've already purchased quite a bit of mods. It didn't help that the purchase of my truck came around the same time as black Friday lol.

Currently have/on order: Prinsu Cab rack, SCS Ray10 Matte Dark Bronze 17x8.5 (purchased last night :)), Falken Wildpeak AT3W 285/70r17, MesoJDM Gasshole, Tailgate decals, OEM overlays, XenonDepot 5000k HIDs, Baja Designs Squadron Sport fogs, LED reverse, license plate, and interior lights, Total Chaos Bed stiffeners.

Need to stop splurging so much and save my money for a bit...easier said than done though right?

Look forward to meeting some of you sometime and learning more about the truck!

    Sup @mbae !

Glad you made it over here! Welcome to the forum and the Kool Kidz thread! :hattip:

There are a lot of great guys in here and a lot of them get together quite a bit for wheeling and meets. I am sure you will fit right in and enjoy your time here. Definitely sounds like you've been busy with the Mods and it sounds like a lot of great things. There are some guys in here from your neck of the woods. I'm meeting one of them @Jim=TRD Off Road and his son in December (last week of) to drop off some tube steps, but we're gonna have lunch too. I'm gonna invite @Montauk17 because I need to grab a skid plate from him that he sold me, that's as good a time as any, if that works out.

I think you might be the first 2019 in here! Cool!
