Has anyone seen any corrosion where the aluminum steps mount to the steel body? I know that dissimilar metals can be problematic and steel and aluminum are two that have issues with each other.

Maybe I'm overthinking it but I know Ford has some pretty specific instructions for mounting hardware for accessories due to the aluminum body panels. I cannot remember whether it is worse if there is more steel or more aluminum. I think stainless steel hardware mitigates the problem.

As for the steps themselves, I don't see my wife taking her truck off road. so I don't think they would be a problem (unless she decides to drive over something that she shouldn't...which could happen...) I like the look, even thought of swapping the steps I have on my F150 for something similar (I think N-Fab makes some).

Are the NFab aluminum Predator any better than the ones Toyota sells?

I HATE my Predator steps! If you don't have anything installed yet, I would buy real sliders. My truck came with them.

The Predators are nothing but shin scraping pains in the ass!

I think the Predator steps are great. Mt truck came with them as well. At my height (5' 11") on an Off Road I don't use them and where my seat is at I don't even notice them. I don't hit my shins on them at all. It's nice to have them though for my daughter to get in and out with though, plus I love the look. When I test drove other Tacos with full length bars my legs kept hitting them and I found them uncomfortable.

As for galvanic corrosion, as long as there's no metal to metal contact there shouldn't be an issue. That said, I'm sure if existing holes are uses the paint would get scraped and you'd get metal to metal contact because of the mounting bolts. New holes would definitely have metal to metal contact. I haven't seen any corrosion issues yet, but my truck isn't even a year old.

In the end, I guess none of this is too helpful for you, but at least you know you're post isn't being ignored!

At 5'2" I really don't use the Predator steps either - just step into the cab. And I have rarely, if ever, shinned them.
