I enjoy looking at the many build threads here and probably need to represent the minority accesscabs, so here is my truck.

I call this the Super Stock Tacoma since I really keep it somewhat low key with the mods, almost like stock and those outside the community think it almost is. I have dreams of a caged fiberglass long travel rig, but that is just not in the cards right now.

    Current:
    2016 Tacoma BBP Accesscab
    Offroad 4x4 - Auto

    Suspension:
Fox 2.5 DSC extended travel coilovers
Camburg ball joint upper control arms
Fox 2.0 rear shocks with reservoirs

    Wheels and Tires:
    Toyota 4R TRD Pro wheels - 17x7.5
BFG KO2 All terrain tires 285/70/17

    Armor:
SSO Slimline hybrid bumper with hoop
Tacoma TRD Pro front skid plate
Pelfreybilt TRD Pro mid skid - aluminum
    CBI Sliders - bought/installed/sold
    Victory4x4 aluminum transfer case skid

    Lighting:
Baja Designs Squadron Sport front fog lights
    Tacoma TRD Pro tail lights

    Interior:
    Katzkin leather seats
    TRD Pro shift knob
    Tufskinz dash letters
    Redline shift and brake boots
    Weathertech floor mats
    Hondo Garage radio knobs
    MESO interior chrome delete

    Misc.:
    Warn VR-8000-S winch
    Factor 55 Flatlink E
    Factor 55 Fairlead
    SDHQ battery terminals
    Pop & Lock tailgate lock
    Powertank CO2
    TRD intake
    Total Chaos bed stiffeners
    2nd Gen front bed rail
    Full sticker and badge removal
    Tacoma SR5 fog light bezels
    Tacoma bed mat
    TRD Pro grill

As a lifelong MI resident, it has been my opinion that dealers of any car make outside the Big 3 in this state suck. I have bought only two new vehicles in my life, both from foreign brands, and both were bought out of state.

I entered a local Toyota dealer in the summer of 2016 looking for a TRD offroad, accesscab, in one of 4-5 different color choices. I gave a deposit for the truck, listed the color preferences in order, and left them the job of locating me a truck. For the 2nd time in my life I got the song and dance about ordering a truck, 3 month waits etc. and after reading about Toyota allocations vs orders, I did the work myself. I was on vacation in northern MI and found a dealer in central OH with a BBP accesscab. I worked a deal via email and phone and arranged to drive down with a trade the next week.

I also ordered a set of 4R TRD Pro wheels after finding one of Ramonortiz55 ebay group buys. This would be just the first of many group buys.

The wheels arrived on a Wednesday, and I did not even drive down to get the truck until that following Saturday.

Last and only real pic I have of the truck stock. Stopped at the biggest of the Cabelas in MI on the way home with the new truck.

The Monday after I got the truck home was game time for new tires and the 4R Pro wheels. Went with BFG KO2 because I have run about 5-6 other sets of previous vehicles and I am unoriginal as hell.

I was traveling for work the next few months, but that did not stop me for the SSO group buy or a Warn winch group buy. First part I actually put on next was a custom hood blackout vinyl to stop blinding me when I drive towards the sun.

Then the chrome cheesegrater had to go. I actually am not a huge fan of the Pro grill, so I downgraded to an SR and kept the chrome ring.

Time to go suspension, I got ahold of Marie at Headstrong and got some Fox and Camburg. 2.5 Fox DSC extended front and 2.0 Fox rear with Camburg ball joint arms.

It has been my experience that when airing tires back up from offroad, CO2 is way faster than any compressor. So I picked up a Powertank in a matching blue to carry around.

It took me almost 2 years to get the SSO bumper powdercoated and installed even though I had it and the winch in 2016. Swapped to SR5 fog bezels and added a Factor 55 Flatlink E around the same time. Also installed the Pelfreybilt aluminum midskid to match up with the TRD Pro aluminum front skid I had already installed. Somewhere before there brings the TRD Pro tail lights.

Now the thread should be mostly up to date. Soon the parts will start to get slightly more custom and away from stock, but mostly keeping the theme for sure.

The first of some of the black friday purchases showed up this morning.

These should make the interior a little nicer.

One of the nicer upgrades I have made. I cut the bumper on the truck, and unbolted the factory parts thru the hole I made.

Only 2 real issues I had during install were related directly to how I planned it out. Bolting the winch to the bumper was difficult since I have large hands and it’s a tight space. And hanging the bumper/winch on the truck solo was possible, but would have been easier with another person or two.

And the process begins. I am not looking forward to the front seat cover install, but the end result should be worth it.

Since I could not find many / any accesscab Katzkin install pics before I ordered, I will add some info as I slowly move along with this process.

3rd gen accesscab jump seap bottoms are held in with three bolts each (12mm socket)

Each jump seat bottom hinge has a cover. The non-lever side uses one phillips screw and removes easily, the lever side has four phillips screws, and it locked together with three tabs inside. You do not have to completely remove this cover, just remove all 4 screws.
    16D79126-9DE6-4409-8348-A83B23254812.jpg

The upholstery just unclips along the tucked in stripped at the rear of the jumpseat, and the Katzkin lower cover is a direct replacement. Note the placement of the extra flaps and tabs in the upholstery when removing the factory cover.

A couple more items I ordered arrived to get the truck tricked a little more. Probably try to install some parts next weekend when I am not so busy.

The boots are a pretty good match if you ask me.

And the Factor55 fairlead is a little more low key than the big and bright Warn fairlead

I have been super lazy as is my mo, plus I have been dealing with some delays on parts. Now that the weather is starting to get better, I am back to installing the long overdue parts.

If anyone else is only a part time wheeler like me, this is a good option to connect or drop power to your winch versus leaving it powered full time. With MI loving salting roads and use/abuse, I always have a distrust of a winch without a quick power disconnect.

SDHQ battery terminals and a Warn plug and a little wiring makes for a clean connection. I might double back and use drop the negative post for a cleaner install but that was nice to have.

Finally made progress on the Katzkins. Rear lowers and headrests are done. Passenger front is also done, just need drivers seat to finish.

Also installed the matching shift and ebrake boots. Installed these first which is how I ran out of time for the drivers front.

Finished up the driver seat and now will start working out the wrinkles. Also have to wire in the seat heaters but with summer weather approaching that will hit the back burner.

Also swapped the Warn fairlead for the Factor55, much better looking imo.

Also its impossible to tell at this angle, but the 285/70 KO2 tire are on. Bad driveway pose is all I have for now.
