Posted a few days ago about my truck shuttering when shifting at like 15-25mph...

Brought it to dealer, metal in fluid. New transmission is being put in!

Stock 2016 TRD Sport with 65k on it. Thought Tacoma’s we suppose to be indestructible? My cousins got 2nd gen with 290k on it.

Thankfully I got the extended warranty, I don’t even remember getting it!

Anyone else had to replace theirs?

Even the best manufacture can produce a faulty product from time to time. Be glad you had the extended warranty.

FYI: Only 6MT is indestructible. That is the one hit by the meteor in the commercial.

Agree with @mike2810. Good thing you had warranty to cover it.

And I had been putting off the extended warranty thinking I bought a Toyota so I wouldn't have to worry. :fingerscrossed:

Yeah man, I’m glad that I got it.. when she told me I had it I was surely she was mistaken. “Did you buy this car used, looks like you have an extended warranty”

I was like huh! Sounds good to me. Called me back later and said she got approval to do the work. I suppose it’s paid for itself! Idk what a transmission replacement cost would be.

Whatever gave you that idea?? Did you specify that option??

I don't have the extended warranty cause I do have the indestructible option, but you got to specify it before you buy.

Post the RO invoice so we can see what the deal is or what may have gone wrong.

    Also, just so you know....

Honestly, I haven’t heard of another automatic trans gone bad on the forum? If you want bad transmissions...buy a new Chevy. Holy Moly.

Is this supposed to be covered under drivetrain warranty?

I think the factory powertrain warranty is 5yr/60k mi.

And I second the chevy statement. Got a buddy that owns a transmission shop, and he said those trucks are chewing up their tramsmissions. He suspects the cylinder deactivation is trashing the torque converter, which is then spewing metal into an otherwise perfectly fine transmission. Sadly, I think the 3rd gen stuttering issue may have the same result... Time will tell.

OP said he was at 65k so if that’s the case yah I guess the extended warranty worked for once.
