Busy couple of days. Pulled out the nasty, 20 year old carpet and replaced it with fresh vinyl/rubber flooring from Rock Auto/ACC. 99% done with the install, just have to finish doing the storage covers for the back and attach the rings for those. Today, I had the bed LineX'd. Looks sooo much better now. I also had my tailgate protector done.

    Old and nasty.

Only cut too much in a couple of spots. I can live with it.

    And the fresh bedliner.

I also returned the Senco air compressor. It just wasn't up to the task of filling the 285/75/16 tires quickly enough. Went and picked up the Harbor Freight Fortress model I linked to previously. Holy shit that thing is even quieter than the Senco was!! I still need to test it for filling tires but I like it so far. The 2 gallon tank and increased CFM should help a bunch. It is a little bigger and heavier but still fully portable and will fit behind the front seats. I don't carry passengers back there so space shouldn't be an issue. Just have to determine if I want to haul it around or do the Vair on-board system still.

Now that the LineX is done in the bed, I was able to mount my hi-lift and get the spare tire secured. Leaves me plenty of room up by the cab and move weight out back where it's needed right now.

    Small stuff today.

Changed the gear oil in both front and rear diffs. Still waiting on the MT-90 to show up so I can do the trans and t-case. Used Redline 75w90 GL5 stuff for the diffs.

My new washer bottle showed up so I did the washer bottle relocation. Had to relocate the cruise control module forward about an inch to make room. I probably could have squeezed the new bottle in there without moving things if I really tried. Works good and no more cracked washer bottle, also much safer location for it.

Need to find something to plug the hole where the filler neck used to be from the OEM washer bottle. That's going to allow a lot of shit to get in there otherwise.

I also discovered the previous owner had done a hack job when he replaced the original airbox with the one in there now. The screws holding the MAF in place were wrong and when I tried pulling one of them out, it pulled the brass nut that is cast in place out. I was able to JBWeld the nut back in place and reinstalled the MAF sensor with new and properly fitting stainless screws.

Pulled the steering column out of the truck to fix the sloppy steering.

No tack welds, I just put 4 halfway decent beads around it. Not worried about a front end collision. If that happens, I'll have other things to worry about. Not the greatest welds, I only have a shitty $99 Harbor Freight welder, but they will work just fine for this.

Re-greased the plastic ball thing and other moving parts in the column. Also cut up an empty oil bottle and made a shim to go between the plastic halves of the ball thing. Tightened that whole joint up nicely.

Then I replaced this cable so now my temp control works on the dash

Moved my ScanGauge while I was there

And relocated the light bar switch from the fuse box cover to the dash so I stop turning the damn thing on with my knee and not realize it.

Going to see a local fabricator about sliders and a bed rack later this afternoon. RTT is in my near future.

    Did the shower curtain mod.

My passenger door was missing the plastic water barrier so I made a new one out of a shower curtain. Still need to do the drivers door, although it does have the water barrier still but the OEM butyl rope is dirty and not sticking any longer. The water barrier is also falling apart in places so I'll just make a new one. Need to get some new door panel clips first.

Take the door panel off and this was all I had.

Cleaned the door up and removed most of the original butyl rope.

Got the shower curtain from Home Depot. Spent the big bucks and got the premium heavy duty one. $12 and I can do both doors and have extra left over for anything else I can think of to use it on.

Tapes the shower curtain to the door and outlined the shape that it needed to be. Then just used scissors to cut it out.

This is the butyl rubber rope that I got for the job.

    Fresh rope applied.

Attach the new water barrier/shower curtain and use a box knife to cut the necessary holes.

Speaker back in and it's ready for the door panel again.

Shower curtain mod completed on the drivers side today. Had to go get some new clips for the door panel first.

Received and installed my new LED tail lights. They came with LED reverse lights as well. Ebay, vipmotoz is the seller, $130.

I also discovered that my reverse lights weren't working. Picked up a new reverse switch and when I was removing the old one, this is how the plug came out.

I was able to pull the broken piece out of the plug and got the new switch installed. Reverse lights working again.

Earlier, I used the 3M headlight restoration kit to clean up my headlights. They are much better than before, just hard to tell in the pics.

Drivers side is cleaned and polished, passenger side is not.

Both done. Like I said, hard to tell but it really did make a difference. Previous owner put LED bulbs in and I can now see a definite cutoff that wasn't there before.

Changed out the trans and tcase fluids with MT90 today. Definite improvement in shifting now. Both the fill and drain plug from the trans had cooked on crap and the gear oil was black that came out so highly overdue for a change.

I also swapped my OEM mirror out for a Gentex 177 with auto-dim, temp and compass. I have gotten so used to having the temp and compass in my 2004 Ram that I missed it when I started driving to Tacoma for my DD. Hence the swap. I got the mirror kit off ebay from seller camsmirrors, as recommended by other on TW that have already done the swap. I too recommend him.

I located the outside temp sensoir on the grill. The sensor has a clip on it so I didn't need to use zipties to hold it in place. Perfect fit where it's at.

Install was easy, hardest part was fishing the new wires thru the roof, down the A-pillar and out the firewall. I had a local Safelite store install the windshield glue on mount for me while I was having a chip in the windshield repaired. No charge for the mount either.

Super happy with the mirror. It's wider, tinted and a little taller so you have much better visibility behind you. It does slightly interfere with the sun visors but it's not a deal breaker.

Installed SpiderTrax 1.25" spacers on all 4 corners today. Hoping this will take car of the rubbing I've been getting at full lock.

Finally replaced the noisy blower fan. No more bird chirping in my dash!

And then installed the Low Range Off Road e-locker slider.

Got the truck measured for sliders yesterday, hopefully have them on sometime after Christmas. Being fab'd by Keepers Metal Fab @JeepAndrew

Got a set of manual adjusting, folding mirrors for a 2004 Tacoma. Simple install and the studs are just the right length to still fit under the door trim piece.

Yup, I've got some brake lines to install along with a new clutch line as well. Maybe tomorrow.

Got my brake lines installed and the new clutch line done yesterday. I also ended up with a new brake master cylinder since I managed to order the wrong replacement reservoir. I didn't want to spend all the time draining the reservoir to change the front brake lines and not have a nice, clean one that I could see the fluid level in. I also rationalized that it was the original master with over 315k miles on it so it wouldn't hurt to replace the whole thing at one go. Turned into more of a pain in the ass then expected and I manager to get brake fluid EVERYWHERE. But the job is done now and brakes and clutch are bled and everything is working great. And I removed the sway bar while I was at it.

New Crown lines, I'm sure everyone has seen similar before. Only the front lines since the rear got a new line when I did the leafs. The original lines were definitely showing their age.

The original brake master cylinder. This is why I wanted to at least replace the reservoir. Even shining a flash light thru the opposite side, it was hard to verify the fluid level. But since I screwed up on the replacement reservoir, I ended up running down to the parts store and they fortunately had a new, non-ABS master with reservoir in stock.

This was the replacement reservoir. Looks like it fits but it was leaking fluid out of the rubber grommets in the laster, which I also replaced. My bad for thinking that a newer, 2003, non-ABS reservoir would be the same as my 1999 non-ABS reservoir. They aren't and have different mounts to the master.

So that came out spilling brake fluid all over the place, and then in with the new and correct master cylinder. Which also spilled brake fluid all over the engine bay after bench bleeding it in the truck and then me failing to get the brake lines attached before the reservoir emptied out. I just could not get the tube nuts started into the master for the life of me and ended up having to unbolt the master again, get the flare nuts started and then reattach the master. Such a mess!

Then I was able to get to the clutch line. The OEM one had seen much better days.

Do you have part numbers for the master cylinder and the clutch hose?
