Has anyone taken their front passenger seat out and kept it out? I didn’t know having the airbag wires exposed would not be a good idea or what not. Planning to build a platform over it so the wiring doesn’t get pinch or snag. Since I am driving by myself a lot. I wanted to put a small portable fridge there. I do dwelling when I travel so having this passenger seat gone would be more space and somewhat a crawl way to get to my back seat when I sleep. Yes! I can fully fit my double cab back seat! Thanks for your input!

Put some dielectric grease (silicone paste) on the connectors then wrap them in plastic. That will prevent any corrosion. Your platform idea should prevent any physical damage.

The module isn’t going to be happy so expect a light you can’t get rid of. The only real issue there is you will not be alerted to any other malfunctions in the system.

Alternatively most SRS systems self diagnose based on resistance so by placing the appropriate resistor across the squib pins in the connector you may be able to fool the computer into thinking it is still plugged in.

What are the possible unintended consequences of this hack? Hard to say but as we discussed in the CMC thread messing with structural or safety systems does change the design of the system and invalidates the testing. So you are at your own risk. But that’s always been the price of being an adult.

On the passenger side there are two issues, the lack of the airbag and the occupancy sensor. The airbag itself is resolved with a resistor. The seat occupant sensor can be trickier. I'm not familiar with the Taco, but my 200 series was a PITA to sort when I put the Recaro's in. On the LC there's also a magnetic seat position sensor that has to be sorted. PRetty sure the manual Taco seas won't have that.

What ohm resistor did you use on the drivers side for the lack of air bag in the seat?

Can't remember offhand. I'll go take a peak if it ever stops raining.
