3rd gen diff drop

I'm talking about the skid plate bracket on the driver side after installing diff drop yhe brand is revtek for 2016+. Do i need to modify it? Cut? Bend?

You should be able to find longer bolts and spacers for the skid plate to move it down to clear the drop. I cant say for sure but I was able to use spacers on my 4runner to lower the plate. Maybe someone with that specific drop can help, Im just going off my personal experience with the Toytec D.D.

 

I have a diff drop and because it changed that front drive shaft angle i can no longer fit the grease fitting in the gap in order to grease the driveline. It fit before the diff drop. I have to file the fitting down to fit now.

 

I’m getting a lot of mix signals so about this diff drop...

My bad I do have a 1 inch diff drop...no I don’t go off-road. If I did do any serious off roading I wouldn’t use spacers.

 

Totally forgot I posted in here. We did the Diff drop, my truck rides rides like stock. I don't wheel my truck either.

If I wanted to wheel, I would get and older toy with a solid axle. With that said, If i wanted to wheel I would have to research more. I Never built a wheeler with IFS, never saw the point. I don't know much about the IFS geometry and how much CV angle is acceptable. I personally didn't buy a nice new truck to go beat up in the woods. I see people on here drop 4-5k doing a "right way" 3'' lift and I just don't get it. 4-5k would get you some older toy to go beat up. Just my opinion

This thread reminds me of a female, you ask a question and get 50 different responses, non of which really help answer your question. So, what I did get is if the fins of the cover touch that’s bad, but diff drop might be bad. No direct answers here.

 

Not a 3rd gen but want to chime in. 4in lift and 1in diff drop. Inner boots have ripped and will be replaced.

 

any info on why this can be dangerous off road? just for the reasoning of the differential getting snagged on the trail or is it a more substantial issue that can accure? thanks

Of course, I ended up with a 3" lift using OME coils that were adverstised as a 2.5" lift on the 4Runner. So I didnt plan on going over 2.5", but thats what I got.

Ironic that I got quoted here, just installed 6112s on the Taco with a 1/4" top plate spacer, right around 2.5" right now up front, did the diff drop because it helped in the past. CV angles on the Taco look really good.

 

I did diff drop on my lift as well. Fox coils pring lift with control arms in front. Supposed to be 3 inch but i never measured.
