I've been considering re-gearing, as my truck seems underpowered. How do I find out what gearing I currently have? (I'm a noob).

And what would be ideal, if I have 31" tires powered by 2.7L 4 cylinder engine. It's 4x4, manual transmission if that makes any difference.

The truck is fairly underpowered already with an empty bed, but I use the truck for work so I'd like it to have better gearing for that kind of use.

If not regearing, I've been considering supercharging the engine... or maybe both. What's people's opinions on here? Optimum power gain to bank account depletion ratio is also important to keep in mind for me.

Check this link , it shows you how to decipher your door vin tag and find your gear ratio

I found the code B02A on my VIN plate, so I deciphered I have 3.58 gears on my 4 cylinder (assuming they were never changed in the past 21 years)... For my tire size and transmission, it recommends 4.56 gears

My other V6 Tacoma has 4.10 gears and same size tire and even though it recommends 4.56, it still gears through way better than my 4 cylinder, but that could be because of help from the V6.

    Many thanks for the input!

Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can find some good quality parts/kit I need that ships to Canada? Ideally shipping within Canada so I'm not paying ridiculous taxes, shipping and import charges.

I'm seeing just the ring and pinion gears for sale, master install kits, overhaul kits, etc, but not sure what I need... Am I right to assume I just need the ring and pinion gears and not all new bearings, shims, etc if my current differentials aren't giving me problems other than not being ideal gearing?
