You must be one of the higher mileage 3rd gens. We can gain alot of insight from you in that area. Will be good to know how these pickups hold up through the mileage.

I've never been a fan of the position of reverse on this tranny. I can't tell you the number of times I've accidentally shifted into reverse while my brain was thinking about a million different things. It's my own damn fault, but it's in a stupid location.

As someone who has been lucky enough to try the 1.05 variant of the OV tune, you will definitely appreciate having it when it is released to the masses.

This is at least twice weekly for me. For fun. 2018 Sport Access Cab, M/T

I do find that 2nd gear starts are somewhat difficult, but I'm also still breaking the truck in (Had to upgrade from my beautiful Inferno SR5 after some clown hit me at 50 mph).

Are you running the 1.05 on 87 or 91? The question is are the performance gains on any of the 87 OVTunes worth the money. Do you lose gas mileage or not. I've read hundreds of pages on the topic and haven't found any answer convincing enough to pull the trigger. Mind you this isy daily commuter I fill up at least twice a week with California gas prices. Good news is I already bought the Tactrix cable for the TSB

I wouldn't mind some kind of lockout on reverse if they kept it in the same location.. having said that, it's definitely my fault if I grab the wrong gate lol.

Hopefully Toyota will do the right thing and dust bin the manual transmission along with drum brakes in 2020.

I can't imagine it makes any money sense for them to even make a manual trans for the 600 or so people that want them a year

Wait a while longer and hopefully you'll start seeing 1.05 M/T reviews after release to the masses. It's still in development currently.

I have never had any issues with accidentally hitting reverse on my rig... it has a good amount of resistance when going into reverse for me. Is this something that changes over time? Loses resistance?

No, but when I first bought my truck I accidentally found reverse a few times. It always happened in a situation where I had to grab 1st in a hurry from a stop. Definitely my fault.

Reverse does have some serious resistance, plus the truck makes a severely annoying BEEEEEEP whenever I select Reverse. Plus slinging the stick all the way over is an odd enough sensation that, at least for me, accidentally driving backwards isn't an issue.

Most manual trans guys/ gals are diehard fans of it. Makes sense for them to keep it in the lineup as it also offers an option the competitors do not.

Yep. Take the much anticipated Ranger for example. One engine choice. One transmission choice. I'll choose no, thank you.

Even FCA understands the M/T choice for their Jeep fanatics.

Right there with you my friend. I have the same tires and lift and the gas mileage sucks. Reverse doesn't bother me much although I don't trailer anything more than a Kayak. I just think it is this damn California V6 that just sucks. You would think that Toyota would come up with a better engine that gets better mileage.
