I am looking at a new 2018 SR5 V6 double cab with an automatic and 4WD. I do not plan to take my truck off road but I do plan to use it in the snow.
I wanted to get feedback from other SR5 owners regarding how their trucks performed in the snow. I realize that the SR5s also have a limited slip differential.

About as well as any other 4000 lb vehicle with proper weight distribution and proper tires. Meaning, they do pretty well.

    Stock for now
All the above. Tires are going to be the determining factor.

What do you expect it to do?

Sounds like a stupid comment except some believe 4wd to be all conquering in the snow. Like many have said TIRES. I run full on snow / winter tires (Nokia’s Hakkapiletta R2’s). Sure 4wd will get me where I need to go. But it doesn’t save your ass from black ice, drifting and other situations where the truck pitches sideways or traction is uneven on one side of the road or another. I hit black ice last winter with my Nokians. It slid and I wasn’t going to make the T intersection. What the snow tires did allow me to was let off the brakes and steer around the stop sign I was going to hit and up on the grass and I steered away from the house and between the windrow of pine trees before turning around in the field. Straight up if I had the stock tires on I would have hit the stop sign and who knows what else.

So tires are the answer. 4wd gets you going where you might be stuck if you only had 2wd but once moving tires are everything. 4wd doesn’t help you stop or steer which is why so many 4wd vehicles are in the ditch.

4wd’s are also good at getting you really stuck.

It all depends on the driver, then the tires.

My truck did well with stock tires and also did just fine with AT's

Great to make you go. Worthless to help you stop.

Stop is important, and why winter tires.

The limited slip differential is simulated at all 4 wheels using the ABS and to me it seems to work wonderfully.

Stock tires were garbage in snow. Need good snowflake rated AT’s or snow tires.
