They are filming a show at work today. It is amazing how many people are actually involved in this production. So far I have met around 100 folks and that is before the actual filming which is today. They are filming one scene here and they are doing final prep right now and will start shooting at 1100 today and that will run to 2300 tonight. Long days for me, as I have to be here in case they need something or if an equipment alarm goes off, which I will take care of. 16 hours yesterday and will be 17 hours today.
It is like organized chaos and everyone is cool, so far at least anyway. Just wish it wasn't so cold 46*, gusting 20 mph and 64% humidity, and before you northerners give me crap, it is cold for us folks here.....

Good morning. Got text from coworker last night that he was at the ER with his wife and may not be into work today. Just got another from him saying that she is in the hospital and waiting on cardiologist. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the US. He is a couple of years older than me, 4 of us on the team are 60 and older and it is a small team. Told him to take care of his wife, I can cover for him as long as need be.

So I was up late last night tearing apart my thermostats and looking up Nest TStats and other smart TStats. Nest looks like the way to go if your planning on full home automation which is something I'd like to do. I don't have a common wire on mine but I can see a blue wire in the wall that is unused. Need to break out the meter and see if it was a C wire at one time and has constant voltage. Pretty much need a common wire for any of the smart TStats. 2 Zone boiler system with an add on AC unit and fan, of course nothing can be straight forward with me. $100 rebate on each smart thermostat with the gas company right now. My heating bill in the winter can hit $500 so it really wouldn't take that long to make it worth it. Thanks for helping me get off my ass and trying to do something about it Tim!

If you contact Nest with your setup, they will provide you with an exact wiring diagram you need. I did mine via chat and sent them wiring pics and model number of my current Hunter thermostat. I couldn't read the model of my heart pump. I had a blue wire unattached but it wasn't needed. If you need a C wire, I think there are work arounds.

Also, did you do their compatibility checker?

Here's a clip of what they sent email.

Looking forward to a report of the "upgrade" mod... Um, I mean, repair...

Oh, and you're welcome on the kick in the arse. I'm on a co-op and don't know if there are any incentives but I need to check into it. I just figured that if I help keep the controls and networks of a four paper machines functioning largely from my desk, I should be able to turn on my Christmas tree without getting out of my recliner...

Thanks Tim! Yeah I went through the compatibility checker and it came back and said not compatible at this time. There wasn't anyone available in the chat so was going to send them an email with a picture, and also check the blue wire to see if it is hot first.

    Tstat.jpg

And of course the downstairs 2nd zone wiring is different yet LOL. The Eco website said can use the G wire as a C wire if needed, with loss of control of the fan in manual mode it would be automatic. But think the Nest is the way to go. After work today will shoot the downstairs Tstat, check the blue wire and email everything off to Nest. Kind of hopeful now that you said the Nest doesn't need the C wire. Thanks again!
