I have an MGM and depending on the angle it can look almost black. I thought about buying one of these but to be honest when it's set so far back you won't be able to distinguish it from the factory piece.

Yea I just say it’s the way the light hits it making it look different. The part we are changing is recessed back some so there are shadows and lack of light compared to the bumper below the headlight which is at a different angle and catches light differently

Actually i agree on the angles etc. Make parts of truck look different.

But disagree the part layed next to the truck, in same light is same.

Yes, it works on darker colors... but it’s really shines on the light color trucks.
my thoughts exactly. This part is tucked up under the headlight which can result in a shadow over it
I’ll try another batch of MGM. I am actually going to head over to the local dealer and compare some of my colors

I am out after these photos...i even dropped bumper and pulled right side off. I did Three comparisons on 3 different spots. Spot on side of grille frame, pics at top of grille surround and lastly on a mirror.
As pointed out , the lighting makes huge dif. I can likely make it look lighter with lights. Ran a couple these pics i did to show light source is from above and forward 4 feet. So that makes it look darker ..but..that darker line is obvious....
I also did a blind viewing test. Asked 3 people to look and choose ligter and darker. BUT, TO TRY and avoid leading them I first asked how do you like the new panel. 2 noticed things were a smidgeon off and 3rd didnt give a rats ass and thought all looked good!! Lol
For me, these look good and fit well. Sorry if added confusion to a previously non existent issue as some cant see colors on a good day, others dont get concerned about it (me) an others wont believe these two are .01 off...20181203_185739.jpg 20181203_185802.jpg 20181203_185649.jpg 20181203_190514.jpg 20181203_185119.jpg

Thanks, but you didn’t have to go through all that work lol.
As stated in the first post. I am not a professional painter, and for as small as this part is... I think of the color is slightly off that it’s nit a deal breaker.
I’ll stick with LEDS abd let body shops do the matching lol

If anyone wants a good laugh, it took 3 of those pushpin clips breaking before I figured out how to remove without breaking them

I posted these in a couple other threads but if you didn’t see them @Atl_taco_ @FishnTx

Just my thoughts on the mgm… are they an absolute perfect color match, no. But this should be expected with anything (house paint etc) I just got a cap and it’s also slightly off. But I think a lot of it is the lighting the shadows and maybe even the texture/shape of the part itself. Being it’s mostly flat it might reflect light differently than the bumper/hood etc (I’m no photographer), it’s recessed back as it is so shadows will naturally make a darker color paint look darker. I personally like the change from stock- it doesn’t pop out like it does on a lighter color but still a subtle clean change. I wish I replaced them during daylight so I could of taken a better half/half shot.

Yeah they look much better than stock installed. I will put them on and if I don't like them, get another pair if he does another batch and sell these. Improvement either way. MGM is definitely a dynamic color and I literally opened the box, put them on my desk, and had to run out the door for an extended trip. They looked pretty dark in the lighting I was viewing them in.

I used to do paint and body on a bunch of classic cars. It's so hard to color match many colors out there even from vehicle to vehicle without the part you are matching right there next to it. Even comes down to temperatures, drying time, layers, how long the paint has been sitting, primer color underneath, and even if you use the same paint code. That's why most body and paint guys like to just paint a car all at once. Takes away from a lot of the difficulty of color matching and blending. That's why one of my favorite colors of all time is flat black, easy to blend with other flat blacks. I'm just glad you did this Meso. Thanks.
