    Ok.

Mind you, I don't own a Pro, so I'm basing the above on anecdotes that have been posted all over this forum for three years now.

I'm beginning to think that every single Tacoma fits different tires, though, and that it has absolutely nothing to do with trim...

    It's just random af.

Sure. This topic comes up daily it seems. Usually boils down to what people define as clearing a tire size. In any case though ride height is irrelevant for Tacoma's short of huge tires. Width is the problem. What @m3bassman said is certainly true though...just because the Pro sits a bit higher at rest doesn't change the upper and lower limits which means the tire sizes they can or cannot fit are identical...unless you are okay with not using the full range of your suspension. Mall crawlers can get away with doing exactly that.

It is well known at this point with a little digging around on TW, that in most cases with stock wheels, you can go up to a 265/75r16, 265/70r17 or 255/85r16, 255/80r17s without rubbing. This is the largest tire size you can go to without rubbing if your suspension is stock, or up to 3 inches of lift. Due to the geometry of the LCA, spindle, and UCA, a 0-3” lifted Tacoma will bottom out at the exact same place. Meaning your lift will not allow you to increase tire size. Aftermarket wheels will also impact rubbing (more backspacing=rubbing frame and uca, less backspacing=rubbing pinch weld, cab mount, fenders). If you don’t want to trim, don’t go above 265s or tall 255s

She’s tight but no issues so far and yes if your jumping your truck and doing radical off road you want a smaller tire

I just posted this in another thread I have read on different sites it’s 34 tall and yeah I maybe be looking at the glass 1/2 full and your looking at is as half empty lol. And the Toyo Web Site actually says 33 1/2 which glad since another half inch yikes.

Thanks! I do gnarly stuff...sometimes. That’s why I got TRD PRO 17” 4-runner wheels and run 255/75/17 which is a solid 32” tire

The TRD PRO 4Runner wheels stick out .8” farther than the stock 16” wheels

Yeah good point and actually the 34 would truly be the possible rub all the time and that would suck. And whats interesting I was so on the page of getting a 285/75-16 and now believe the wider tire may have been just a little to wide for my likening. And it was another forum member here who mentioned this size tire to look at. And for anyone doing serious off roading no way do you change up to bigger tires. I will run the back dirt roads and mainly paved driving so no worries here. Otherwise I would not have changed her up and the factory Goodyear just look way to wimpy and due no justice for the PRO.

Try 285/70R16 Nitto Trail Grapplers if you want the extra width. They're the same height as the 265s but an inch wider. As far as I know they're the only tire made in that size though. They did rub plastic but I have a -12 offset on my wheels.IMG_20181125_143219.jpg

Maybe this well help clear some things.
The wider the tire the more weight.
The more plys to the tire the more weight.
The more weight the less “felt” power
The more weight the worse your mpg gets (usually)

    Width is the killer.

And based on the pros I've measured they're the same height as off road

One could make the argument a Pro has less clearance since the wheel sits 1/2" further out.
