I'm going to have a Barium Swallow test done next and then they'll put me to sleep and use a longer camera and go in through my mouth.

Something magical about having 2 nurses pulling on your junk while a doctor shoves something 24" long through said junk and into your bladder. Now, add in the part about the surgical catheter being roughly 10 times the diameter of that junk we just spoke of....

They could run it ear to ear through my brain and it would have bothered me less.

Up side was, one of the nurses looked just like a young Shania Twain. Lot of good THAT did me.....

I pulled a catheter out by myself when I was in the ICU. I was pretty high on morphine. The nurse asked me why I did it, I said I had to pee.

 

That’s not fun! I’ve had it done twice, once sedated but awake, and once out cold.

 

You gonna trigger the northern folk with that southern rock propaganda.

 

After the surgery, I had to use a catheter for 4 weeks. My choices were to wear it constantly, or, learn to put one in/take it out myself every time I needed to pee. They were pumping me full of fluids, so that was happening 8 to 10 times a day. I elected to "self cath". The first couple "installs" were white knuckle, spine chilling events. After a few tries, and learning to relax, it was no big deal. My first reaction was, "Why is this thing 2 feet long?" Damn near ALL of it had to go in before the action started. Explained the process to Asshat when he was still here. Saw the eyes roll back, head tilt back, then he hit the floor. It was worth ALL the pain and effort just to watch that asshole pass out.
