I haven't had any problems with my 2wd getting me where I need to go. There was one time I thought I was going to get in trouble. They had an area of the mall parking lot blocked off and I was in a hurry to go buy some more cologne from bath and body works. I had to jump one of the grass islands to get around. I knew I would be O.k. when I saw a TRD Pro across the street at the Starbucks, I knew they would pull me out if need be.

I have a 4x2 OR! I do here and there wish I had a 4x4, but who doesn't? Mine does the trick though. Been mudding, going on easy trails, and ripping through big open dirt areas at 80 MPH. Only got stuck once in some sand but my buddy with a jeep towed me out with some surf racks! I had some lockable metal wire surf racks and we tied them up and they worked like a dream. Now out joke is, What happens when two surfers go off roading and one gets stuck, use surf racks to get the other out!

I like the look of that man! I have the same color truck and this actually helps me out a lot. I wanted to do nerf bars on mine as well as a smaller wheel and bigger tire. Lift of course, thinking three inches at least. Completely new to the whole scene but I'm in love.

Interesting that 4x4 option is a $3000 upgrade for you guys, not even an option for 4x2 in the Northeast on Toyotas website.
I see plenty of clean used 2WD's that make there way out East in 1st and 2nd gen platforms.
I have always really liked how Toyota gives their 2WD option ground clearance unlike most other brands. If I moved out West I would totally rock a Pre-Runner 1st gen
