What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I’m not sure which set you guys ordered but mine required a lot of persuasion and some electrical tape on the stalk the knob sits on. Just a heads up

Wonder if your slave or master cylinder is bad and not fully disengaging the clutch

I've got all blue everything and it doesn't bother me one bit. I love my blue!

 

I don't know appears to be working from what I can see. Does not do it all the time but when it does it don't stop until I get off the clutch pedal

hmm could be tranny syncros too. Is the noise changing as you move the shifter??

Something is grinding away. I know the slave can go out. Easy to rebuild though and cheap.

Yes. When I take it out of gear it gets quiter and as soon as I pull it into gear it gets louder but it only does it with the clutch pedal pressed as soon as I release the pedal it stops
I am not having any problems, no gear grinding, no shifting problems just making a noise and not making a noise all the time

 

Retrofitted a TRD transcooler, it's meant for a Tacoma, just wasn't going to sit where I needed it.

 

When you push the clutch pedal down to the floor , the clutch disc is pulled away from the flywheel . The purpose of the pilot bearing is to support that radial load of the clutch disc when the disc is moved away from the flywheel . I would be looking at the pilot bearing as the most likely culprit in this situation . Transmission shops usually will not warranty a clutch job unless the flywheel is turned down and the pilot bearing needs to be replaced .
There were members on here who said you could actually install the clutch disc in a Tacoma backwards .This would make some nasty noises once the disc is moved awaay from the flywheel

 

Just replaced the throw out bearing two days ago. Clutch has been in it over a year less than 10,000 miles on it

 

When you replaced the clutch , did you change the pilot bearing ? Pilot bearing fits in the rear of the crankshaft .

The only thing that turns when you push the clutch down is the input shaft . If you have noise with the clutch pedal pushed down to the floor , its your pilot bearing or the input to output shaft bearing inside the transmission .
Is your transmission noisy in all gears except for 4th gear ?
This will be the deciding factor between the pilot bearing and the input shaft bearing

 

It is not noisy at all in any gear going down the road but to stop at a traffic light sometimes it starts making the noise and it only does it with the clutch pushed in

 

Try squirting some lithium grease from one of those aerosol cans in the input shaft where the input shaft fits into the rear of the crankshaft .

 

No more bird chirping in my dash!
