I use 2 - I live on Long Island NY, so mostly flat. No issues unless in certain hilly areas. Maybe you need Pedal Commander also? I, personally, don't care enough - hiils are few in my commute paths.

Unfortunately the SSP can't control downshifts at all. I find that pretty much anything over 70mph in this Tacoma will cause the transmission to dance 4/5/6/5/4/etc constantly. Throw in a little incline, or wind, and bam, 4th gear at 75 mph. It's really too bad there's no way to control downshifts like the SSP can control upshifts. Still a great product though, I do enjoy it.

Thanks for the info! The 14-15mpg on road trips is getting a little frustrating, especially since two of the states I drive in have 80mph speed limits.

Agreed. Gas mileage is horrible over 70ish mph. Oh well, its not worth it to drive slow!

So is there going to be a V3 chip upgrade to include downshift?

From what I have researched the best options are to get the TSB updates then OVtune if you still are not satisfied.

For anyone interested send a PM or search eBay as I’ve removed the V2 in preparing for a sale. Looking at the 4Runner for more rear legroom. Thanks

    I love this product.

    1. It Works as Advertised - if you look at the shift chart on their site and drive your truck, that is what it does. You will like your truck!
    2. Truly Plug and Play, and you have options to make a perfectly clean install without much imagination.
    3. Does not do anything to the "native" truck or ECU or warranty, just unplug and my truck is the same as before.
    4. It's cheap, come on people, the shifting in our trucks SUCKS, this gets you in much better standing...if you complain about everything I'd bet you can find some nuance you don't love...but do you love the way your truck drives today? If you could spend less than $200 to make it much better, wouldn't you?
    5. You decide when to use, even when driving...if you are in an area where you don't need it you flip the shifter back to D, if you want to re-engage...back to S. If you want to use S+/S- just do it, all while driving.
    6. Great customer service, if you have a question, these guys answer it. I have not heard of too many issues, mine is great, but I'd bet they stand behind it.

Totally agree. This mod has had the most bang for the buck of any I've done so far. Night and day difference in how the truck drives when it's on vs. when it's not.

Ready some stuff in this thread already - but can someone explain the differences between SSP v2 and ECT? I've had SSPv2 for a while and been driving with ECT on as well. Do they actually compete?

I have a 2019 Tacoma limited and the poor shifting is driving me nuts. I ride around around in sport mode and ECT on. I need one of these SSP units. Can I purchase on eBay or Amazon ?
