How heavy are these tires? I'm probably going with 265/75/16 again, like my Nitto TGs

SOOOOOOO happy I got these put on when I did. Definitely better off road and such. But definitely wet pavement traction is leaps and bounds above stock Rugged Trails. Had to lock up the wheels in the rain earlier tonight on the highway going about 50-55 mph in the rain, due to an idiot stopping mid turn to a complete stop in front of me. I was certain I was gonna be posting accident photos on this forum. But nope. The stopping power of the ABS and the tires were awesome. I remember many times having to lock up the breaks with the Rugged Trails on dry pavement before and having noticable amount of travel after the fact. Not the case now. 2 thumbs up.

I got a set of four 265/75/16s from Discount Tire Direct's eBay store for about $435 using a 15% off eBay coupon. Cost $76 at my local Discount Tire to mount and balance. Seem slightly shaky at around 70mph, but not too noticeable. May try a rebalance.

I bought these mostly for the claimed snow performance, and they 100% live up to the hype. I was lucky enough to drive I-70 from Denver to Dillon through two seperate snow storms recently. Definitely not snow tires but they have impressive grip.

You need to find a good frontend shop, sounds like something is bent if the shake is still their after a tire swap. Front end alignment, driveshaft??

I had the front aligned in efforts to deal with this. and I also was noticing some slight inside tire wear. it was off a little on one side.. helped with tire wear, but not the shake. They said everything was nice and tight. Shortly after I had to replace a wheel bearing. it shakes in the steering wheel, just like an out of balance tire. But I can hear it too... you can hear the wa wa wa wa wa like something isn't right. Now im also noticing more shake from the rear as well.. Feeling it in the seat, and you can see the passenger seat shaking. all this time ive chalked it up to the tires... but now with new tires,, same thing. still hear the wa wa wa wa sound.. just like with the other tires since brand new. So now im moving to the wheels.. I never had shake from the stock wheels and tires.. granted, the tires have about 55000 miles on em.

It's odd that you have the shake with different tires. Bent or out of round wheel? Driveshaft?? I've always been lucky with this type of thing, nothing more than alignment or tires. Good luck finding the problem.

Its been a mess with everything on this truck. Has all sorts of issues from front to back. I think ive now determined its the wheels. Which makes me even more mad, because it means I bought tires I didn't need, ive dealt with it for over 2 years now, and I have 750 dollar wheels that are worthless

I'm sorry to hear about the repeat balancing, gitacotrd.

When you go into your local Discount Tire store I suggest you speak with the store manager or the senior assist manager - I'm confident they'll take care of you. If we can be of any assistance from this end please shoot us a PM

I just put a set of 255/80/17 on and I'm impressed with the traction on snow and ice.

Common problem on tacomas, not related to tire. Mine had it too. Try loosening all lug nuts and re-torquing with a torque wrench to the proper torque. That helped mine some. Aslo look at hub centric rings or wheels.

I moved tires all over, back and forth, retorqued, Wheels were hubcentric wheels.. and even with stock wheels had the shakes. Am now running cooper at3 4s and no shakes yet
