    Did it every year growing up, was fun to walk the lanes, pick it and cut it down. Definitely better farms up in Santa Cruz, night road trip next year to do that. Should have got one when I was up there haha.

    Only 30miles away from my house. Definitely a lot more fun getting out there and exploring and trying to find that perfect tree that wasn't manicured into a perfect tree. I hear you about the price for gas. I've bought plenty of home depot trees. Last year was the first year we did it and now we are hooked. I bring my camp stove and make up some hot chocolate and we have lunch and make a fun day out of it. Definitely worth the gas for the fun memories. This year I let my oldest cut the tree down. The trunk was only about 3" thick. He thought cutting a tree down was easy until he was about a 1/4 of the way through. Then he was asking for my help.
