im going to try dual battery (probably just enough help on trips where the truck wont start often) then maybe look onto solar down the road if its needed. granted i could always use my cooler for those trips too but a fridge is nice, haha

First, I love your build and how you use your truck:thumbsup:

I can't ignore the hardware misalignment here

There are spherical washers that can make that sit flat, you have a fair amount of angle there, so one stack might not do it but you can double stack them. Then you get the clamping force without point loading on one side of the bolt head, it will apply pressure across the entire surface.

Keep it up! I always look forward to what comes next

NOCO GB40 was on sale on Amazon for like $60 the other day so I picked one up. Had to rescue a lady at the grocery store today, and it worked like a champ. Not gonna ditch the cables, but I know what I'm reaching to first now.

A long while back I bought a 30' long set of cables. It's paid off a few times to really get to nosed in vehicles.

Yea no doubt I’m doing dual battery as well. But I just don’t want to run all the wiring before I take the bed off and go flat bed. As far as solar I’m looking at a solar blanket.

I can't wait for the day the solar blankets come down. 1200-2000 for a solar array is bananas.

Yea I hear ya but at the same time I can’t wait hah!

So I’m slowly sourcing parts for a solar kit.
Scooped this Renogy Rover charge controller for $80 somewhere online..
    https://www.amazon.com/Renogy-Charg...dpPl=1&dpID=41g6pfWu9FL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1

Also have my eye on this solar blanket which is the only US compact portable solar panel I can find. Cost is just crazy tho.

I know, the bolt originally bothered me when I first got the cap.. learned to live with it. It’s held up to so much abuse tho I’m not touching it as of now. Goal is to dump the cap and go flatbed/canopy.

I was haing the idea to mount solar on my trailer under the tent on some sort of drawer system to be able to push it under and have it protected. maybe you could raise up the storage box on the roof with some sort of spacer and install a slide mount on the roof to be able to slide the panels out to charge when stationary. because how often are you going to use the blanket when driviing?

    You high o_O

What good would the panel be under the cargo box blocked from the the sun while driving? And I don’t need solar while driving.. I have an alternator.

I’ve always been set on a hard panel on the hood cuz no fuks drill all the holes. But just recently went camping with the fam and some friends, to fit us all in the site I stuffed my nose into the brush on the perimeter of the site. After camping for four days I realized that solar on the hood wouldn’t do me any good here cuz it was shaded the whole time. I had my awning room setup and noticed that the awning had sun on it every day. Thus creating the want for solar blanket. I want options to place it anywhere around the truck. Could still put on the hood at camp if I want.

You just answered the question... you don’t need solar while driving...

If you put it on a slide mount like the slide mount for the fridge type slides that are heavy duty then you pull it out from its home when needed and push it in when you don’t need it. There is no need for solar when driving as you stated you have an alternator...
