Anyone have an Arlo system? I have researched several brands and finally went and talked to our cable company today. We have a security system thru them but no cameras. The guy working there actually recommended Arlo over their own camera.

I had the arlo used it for 4 months when I first got it one camera had pink hue on it so I called CS they are all from india, but number is cali. they are worthless the CS. I did get a replacement and it was good. so I had it off for last 4th month and one camera was crapped out don't know what was wrong with it but didn't work not even hard reset etc. so I just returned it to Costco. I head the HD version of arlo is better. but I don't know I might end up going back to them but we will see. the ring is good from what I heard but u gotta pay for subscription for cloud. nest I don't like because u gotta plug it in to a socket. and more expensive. all in all I would say either ring or arlo.

    Too few to list.
Been using Arlo for almost a year now. I just have the regular 2pk camera. It basically records 10 seconds of video to the cloud whenever it detects movement. The battery is lithium and can last anywhere from 4-8 months depending on how often the camera detects movement and record. On average, the camera I have up front detects movement about 2-3 times a day vs 2-3 times a week over the camera I have in the backyard. Front camera battery last about 4 months while the rear lasted 8 months. The camera have a wide angle view and cannot zoom in. There is a zoom option but just digital and not optical. If you put the camera above 8-9 feet, then it can have issues picking up motion. Video feed is decent during daytime but night time can get a bit muddy even though it has night vision. There is no audio. The cloud saves the video for 7 days and the phone app instantly notifies you if motion is detected. Installation is a snap as it's wire free and I paid about $175 from Costco.

There is a new model out which is the Arlo Pro and it has rechargeable batteries, a siren, and 2 way audio which are nice features. It also has the option of being wire free or direct plug in. I've seen these sold at Costco and it's a 3 pk and goes as cheap as $450 when on sale.

We do have a security system in place and the Arlo is just an addition. The installer also recommended the Arlo cameras as well.

Additional cameras can be added as well to both system. I like that it records the videos to the cloud so no need for a drive and it's accessible all the time. Wire free system so easy to put up anywhere and does not depend on a direct power source.

Our house has vaulted ceilings and if there was a attic crawl space, I probably would have given a wired set up a try.

A security system expert friend of mine suggested Amcrest brand for me. CS is good and the system/cameras are available through Amazon.

Do you know if they have two way audio or an alert siren?

Some cameras have two way audio and there's a two wire connection for an alarm system. I run one of their DVRs and have a few cameras running off of it. There's an app to alert me on my phone if movement is observed in a predefined zone. Only thing that isn't top notch with them is the Amrest iCloud app. Don't bother as it doesn't play nice with the Amcrest app. Set up is a breeze with a smart phone. Just take a photo of the bar code and follow a few prompts. More detailed set up can be done through a computer that is on the same wifi as the camera or DVR.

In my experience they are a little spendy, but probably fair considering ease of use and accessibility.

I’ve had decent luck with them. Get rechargeable batteries though, for sure

I have nothing to compare too, but it meets/exceeds my expectations. I bought it in prep for moving from a SFH to a condo, so I did not make a permenant mount yet. It would work even better if I positioned it differently.

Other units may be better suited for different goals, but as I said, this works great for me. I suspect I may use one in the garage in my condo too, assuming I can pick up my network from the condo there.

Majority of the wireless cloud system is a pos. Go for a NVR/DVR system. Swan is my preferred system when installing for clients.
