    I don’t have them. I run ADS

I was just recommending valving research before you buy. Digressive is a firmer feel. Progressive tends to be a softer on-road feel. You will feel more road imperfections, but can absorb bigger bumps and hits with less jarring

I’m also running Bilsteins for my overlanding rig. 6112 in front, 5160 in back, Dakar EL096R (heavy) leaf springs with about 4-500 lbs in the back. Love them!

Is this similar to the way Stock OR suspension behaves, feels very floaty to me. Too soft, not enough dampening, will added weight (sliders) tame this a bit?

Tremendously. My OR was floaty in the beginning. Once I added skids and sliders (all steel) it became a little too firm. The 6112/5160/Dakar combo is in the middle. It will feel floaty for a few days though until the extra weight settles it down.

How do the Dakar’s that you have effect power out put? How much do yours weigh?

The new leaf pack didn’t feel much heavier than the stock pack but I’m not sure how much it weighs. Google says 50lbs each. I have almost 300lbs between my sliders and skids. That bogs the truck down some but I run the stock tire size in P loading.

What's the lift like in the rear without an AAL or new springs?

There is no lift, just a nice soft ride at low speed and a firmer more controlled ride at hiway speeds.

How does the right height adjustment up front with the 6112 compare to the back? Or is the whole thing adjusted to a stock height (I'm considering the same setup myself so I'm especially curious).

The 5160's in the rear are not adjustable. The 6112's have to be disassembled to change the lift. I think they are adjustable from .75"-2.5" of lift.

so do the 6112's and 5160's add any height?

if so what are the specs in the front and rear -- height wise?

5160's are just a reservoir shock they don't add height. The 6112 were assembled on the first notch and added 1" of lift on install. They have settled a little and are closer to .75" of lift.

Here is the table for lift with 6112's from @HeadStrong Off-Road IMG_1394.jpgHit up Marie for some more accurate answers. Bonus points for buying from them as well.

I'm having a difficult time deciding between the medium and heavy Dakar springs based on my requirements. I plan to mount a loaded rack and RTT, but only between April and October every year. For the rest of the year, I plan to store both the rack and RTT in my garage. If I install the HD springs for the added weight during the Spring and Summer months, I'm afraid the whole back of the truck will be too high when I take those off for the late autumn and Winter months.

Does anyone have a solution to this conundrum that doesn't require removing or installing the extra HD leaf every six months?

Can you speak a little bit to the ADS ride quality with progressive compression and digressive rebound? Are initial hits soft but the wheel droops less quickly/harshly?

I've been considering airbags in addition to all of the above for boat-towing purposes, but do you think that combining just the Dakar Medium springs and something like the Sumosprings/airbags would be sufficient to handle the added load of the RTT+gear during the summer? (thus skipping the HD leaf altogether)

No aftermarket shock is going to feel as soft as the stock Bilsteins. That being said, the ride is very nice onroad for all the armor and what not I have on the truck. I had the OME medium suspension before and the ADS is softer feeling than that significantly in a good way. I feel OME is too stiff if you don’t run a lot of weight because they are designed more for overlanders.

For commuting I find it fine. Potholes soak up better going over them at speed more than 5-10mph. What is really impressive is cranking up the firmness of the shocks with the clicker resis and doing 35mph over rock trails and how smooth it is. These shocks really start to feel “cloud-like” at speed over 25 mph.

The valving is interesting as the rebound does feel to respond immediately to bumps where the progressive compression is nice for the highway and dirt trails. I just bought the clicker resi rears, so after I get those installed I’m sure the ride will be even more nice.

    Hope this helps
