No grey wire mod. And wear is dependent on use and environment. I have had a solid axle for most of my driving life. I have no idea how long the cvs will last. This not the only option for 2lo but it is much cheaper less work than dual cases.

4lo, full droop, at full left turn. Must of got traction then I heard a pop! Long travel and I may have let my limit syraps stretch over 2 years without checking them which might of put the CV past it's limit, bound up, and popped.

I see the outboard joint but is it genuine Toyota? I need the outboard joint anyways but why does the kit require new ones if it uses the same 2nd/3rd Gen joint? Same question for the hub/bearing, if it's is the same as the one current stock one?

Also, which locking hub do you prefer? I tried to do some research comparing. Found one guy who said the warn was junk. I know the aisin is OEM for older yotas. I had em on my 98 for 200k miles. I'm on 35" tires now and long travel so I need beefy.

Well I just snapped a CV on a trail 400 miles from home and would have made life a lot easier. Would have to disassemble away from home. Unlock hub, drive home. Also, it just sucks knowing all that gear is spinning uselessly under the truck while in 2 wheel drive. I wish I could run these on my rear axle and flat tow the taco behind the RV. Sucks not having nuetral on the transfer case.

Any concern about the unloaded front axles spinning while using such 2Lo?

So if looking to move to the FJ TC and remove the TC and ADD actuators, this seems like the logical next step.

    Wait, WHAT???
While in 2WD, the front (both) CV axles and front differential still spinning??? I thought that the front diff is disconnected in 2WD and connected in 4WD and both CV not spinning.
In normal 2WD if both CV are spinning and also the front diff is spinning its gears, there is a lot of drag and waste of fuel. Toyota should have find a solution for front diff to be in neutral as opposed to use 0W-20 oil for fuel economy.
If all is spinning, why do I have to engage the 4WD every month to get the gears moving???
In that case, in 2WD what is actually spinning?
    - front/right CV spinning? Y/N
    - front/left CV spinning? Y/N
    - front differential spinning? Y/N
If the 4WD engagement is done only on the passenger side, that means 2WD is actually 3WD?

In 2wd everything is spinning. Cv's front diff, front drive shaft, and transfer case. What happens when you switch to 4wd, is the transfer case actually engages the front diff to send power to it.

What this kit does is allow the front wheels to free spin at the hubs, and doing so, keep the cv's stationary while the hub spins around it. Since that is stationary, the rest of the front drive line is stationary. Then when you lock the hubs, it goes back to stock and you can then engage 4wd.

The ring and pinion / driveshaft do not spin. Just the diff gears.

No about the last question. If the T case engaged and the ADD doesn't, which won't happen because of the way the 4wd ECU works, you are still RWD only since the path of least resistance is the unconnected inner right shaft.

This is great for the MT folks since we can then have 2Lo to counteract the weirdly high reverse gear.

Sorry, my background is more from the powetsports side, I forget about the stupid add thing sometimes. Either way answering his question, yes, the 4wd stuff is still spinning while in 2wd

Both CVs are driven by the wheels because they're mechanically connected. Passenger side is disconnected at the A.D.D.
As mentioned, this mechanically disconnects the CVs from the wheels.

"this" in the second line refers to my kit, not the A.D.D.

Both CVs are driven by the wheels because they're mechanically connected. Passenger side is disconnected at the A.D.D.
As mentioned, MY KIT mechanically disconnects the CVs from the wheels.

You don't happen to need anyone with LT that actually abuses their truck to do some quality testing for you do you? I'd be a happy guinea pig for some hard abuse.
