I guess I am lucky, I kinda like my shift. I work 6a-6p. One week I work Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun. The next week I work Wed, Thurs. Then it starts back over. I use 2 vacation days, usually Wed and Thurs, and am off 7 days. And we are always shut down 2 weeks for Christmas. But the 12 hour shifts are rough on the knees.

 

we work the exact same shift!! its the change from days to nites every 2 weeks thats hard! been doin it for years. and this week im on Wed,Thurs nites. had one vavation day i had to burn so tommorow nite and im done till daylite Monday

 

We don't rotate days to nights but you have to put in the time to go to days. Took me 9 years and 11 months.

 

I couldn't handle all those hours on concrete like that. It would kill my knees and feet.

 

our company wouldnt let us run day crews we have tried to get it!cause all the knowledge and senior operators would be on days. that would kill production on the nite side. im on year 35.

 

i hear you ive had one knee done the other one needs it and have nerve damage in my feet! my toes feel like they are asleep most of the time.

 

Just found this elderly (lol!) post...HAD to jump in, even if late. Again.

Working on my 58th year....happier and healthier (well, except for the eyes and the prostate, alas) than I have ever been....and LOVE life.

The water table on my Winchester 23 also has jeweling on the flats.



And in about 12 hours will be using her on some clays

I've used one when jeweling a bolt. Made the rosettes with what looked like a pencil eraser with diamond dust in the drill press.

Agreed Martin. Normal week for me is Monday thru Friday 730 to 330. Seven point five hours is enough.

 

We where 12 hour shifts three on three off four on four off. The four off was nice but the four on was rough.
