Sweet setup. What bumper are you using there and do you tow with it?

It's a shame Pelfreybilt went out of business. I hear great things. I want a bumper with swing arm but I don't want to lose the ability to tow. It seems no one rates their hitches and I don't know if it want to type without a rated hitch.

FWIW pelfrey didn’t rate their hitches either as far as I know. Too much money to get it dot certified.

This. I haven’t seen any that have a true DOT weight rating.

Just bought this camper. Took months of searching. Currently loading it up for camping. Spare tire takes up the entire bed though lol

Now you can make the DIY Prinsu cap rack and throw your spare up there when you go out of town.

FabFour and BA let you use your OEM hitch receiver. I feel that if you can recover a vehicle with one you can tow with one. Especially with a Tacoma. I'm still hesitant to trust one....

Has anyone done a baseplate similar to goosegear to mount storage systems? Looking for measurements and dimensions. I want to build one out of 80/20 aluminum and would like to mount it to a baseplate

You can see a pic or two of mine (for a DCSB) here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...uildout-and-mods.540940/page-14#post-18349103

    • 60" front to back
    • 42.5" across in front
    • 52.5" across in back (rear of the wheel wells)
    • 26.5" from the front is where I started curving out for the wheel well. But to give you a better idea, it would be ~ 27.75" from the front if I just did a straight diagonal cut.
    • 25" from the back is where I started curving in for the wheel well, but it would be more like 25.75" from the back if it was a straight diagonal.
    • And the diagonal for the wheel wells is around a 38 degree angle.

Perfect exactly what I was looking for. Thank you

I am looking at doing something similar to what you are but I am going to try and use 8020 for it.

Thank you everyone - this is a great thread.

I will be getting a cap as soon as funds allow and plan building another storage system. I noticed that almost everyone makes their drawers about 6 or 8" high (or even higher). I am guessing that they make it this height so that it sits on the flat part of the wheel well? I am planning to get cap that is the same height as the cab so space is precious (especially with a 5' bed). When I built drawers for my 3rd gen 4runner a while ago, I purposefully made them only about 4½" high so that i would still have plenty of room above. I found that there were very few items that I like to keep in the back that wouldn't fit. And those few times, I just kept these items in a plastic bin. Felt that the trade-off was well worth it. Just my two cents.

Here is a pic of what I built for the 4runner; I only wish that they fit in my 2018 Taco. Have them up for sale on another thread. I will probably build something like it as soon as I get a cap.

Do you happen to have a photo of the drawers closed and latched? I like that setup, looks quite secure.
