You could buy a metal detector on Amazon and return it after you find it .

I may have to sell my 80 series in the next month. I'm the top candidate for a position in Hawaii, but the company won't ship my Land Cruiser. I'll know for sure in a day or 2 if I got it.

Do you know what kinda shit we would find in Randys yard with a metal detector? we could have our own show on history channel.

    A thing or two...
I bought a new water pump but never got around to installing it. I'm still just topping off the overflow tank when it gets low, but I've hardly driven the truck this year with all the work being done to it.

Can you tell where the leak is coming from? Is it on the driver or passenger side? Toward the front or rear? It's possible that it's the coolant pipe the runs from the thermostat housing at the front of the motor to the rear of the motor. It's on the driver side and runs under the intake manifold. They're plastic on the older 2.7s and give up the ghost without warning. The OEM replacement part is metal. You have to pull the intake manifold to replace it. I'm not 100% sure when they changed from plastic to metal, but I think it was either 09 or 12.

    Driver side rear.

I’ll look into that. Any way to check it without pulling the intake manifold?

It could be 3-4 years. I suppose I could find a friend to hold it until I can pay to ship it.

You should be able to see the plastic tube at the front of the motor where it bolts to the thermostat housing. Follow the lower radiator hose to where it connects to the thermostat housing and look on the backside of the housing. That's where the pipe connects. It could be cracked possibly and leaking down the pipe to the back of the engine.

At the back of the engine, you have the other end of the coolant bypass pipe, the throttle body coolant lines, the hoses feeding the heater core.
