Not yet. X-mas is killing me time wise. I actually have a nice shop at work where I can do all my projects on weekends. This weekend I have to start shopping. And this time I want to do it slow and right so i'm not going to squeeze it in between going to stupid Malls. And I know this time it will be done correctly. Mark my words. And thanks sir for all the info.

Success boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Took me while to have to do it right but I just did. Tedious cutting out the wires from the old plug. And slow getting the two new ones in this time but I did it !!! The regular plug wires went right in and clicked like nothing. The two add on's I had to coax in(easy and slowly)

But it's done. I'm an idiot for having so much trouble. Because this time it was super easy and clean. I finally have a lighted ring. Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it.......

Edit: Finally got use out of it. I have an auto stater and when I leave work it's pitch black and can never see the keyhole once I get in the car. But now it is perfect. The dome stays on just long enough for me to look down and see where the key goes without scratching all my plastic. One of the best mod's I have done.........
    Thanks again ***********

    Hey TRD Larry!

So I've been lurking in this thread over the last several weeks while I've gotten my supplies together to do the actual work. I went out to my truck today to begin but hit a brick wall almost as soon as I started. For the life of me, I could NOT get the steering column cover off. I've seen the links to other threads where how to do this is explained and I did my best to follow those instructions, however after removing the two screws and then giving the column cover some gentle prying and wiggling, I was only ever able to get it separated by just a tiny bit. Granted I was maybe too gentle, as I didn't want to break anything, but I still tried for about 20 minutes - pushing here and squeezing there, alas, to no avail. I even employed the help of a flat head screwdriver to try and pry in some areas, but again, I was afraid to apply too much force and break something.

Would you happen to have any additional tips on how you finally removed the column cover that might help? Or maybe some images you took? I'm doing this to my 2015 TRD Sport, in case that helps. Thanks in advance for your time!

There is also a PDF download instruction manual at the bottom of the first post that has some pics of column removal.

If you have to use a screwdriver to pry it off then something isn’t right. It should be just the 2 screws then the bottom half simply pops off. You may have to pull somewhat forward and downward if I recall. Hardest part is just getting it past the ignition ring.

JdevTac, thanks for the quick response! Been following your handiwork and I appreciate all the information and help. I've seen the PDF as well and was using that, plus this thread, on my iPad to reference while I was in my truck and getting the job started. I'm thinking I was being too gentle and I didn't pull the steering column cover forward and down hard enough. I'll give it another shot and report back with some images of what I am seeing if I continue to have issues.

    Thanks again!

Yep, I really like mine. Just buy a Camry ignition. Don't worry about if it has a key. Just make sure it has the pigtail.

Not sure what you mean. You're buying a used Camry ignition. The price is whatever the seller wants for it.

There are 2 different size terminals in that connector. Make sure you get the correct ones.

Crazy question I thought maybe one of you guys may be able to help out with...
For Toyota connector #9098012092 (transponder amplifier connector) is there a female version of that connector that the factory #9098012092 can be plugged into? I've search literally for day. Thanks

Just a heads up. I don’t know if this mod creates the same condition but knowledge is power. Back in the 80s and 90s Dodge neons, voyager minivans, and other models were being stolen at a rate never seen before. It turned out the illuminated rings around the ignition was the cause. All you had to do was break that plastic ring and the ignition just pulled out by hand. The car could then be started with a flat head screwdriver. I think it needs to be evaluated if this mod creates that weakness before doing the mod.

The illuminated ring contains the immobilizer antenna on Tacos with chipped keys. Bust that and the truck is never going to start. This mod simply replaces the black plastic antenna with a clear lighted one. Also, Toyota went to great effort to make the ignition lock cylinder very difficult to pull without the key and knowledge of the trick.
