H & R Excell Auto, distributed by Remington , now. One of the best kept secrets in the auto shotgun world. Great reviews, nice looking , reliable, and inexpensive. $389 out the door at Dick's Sporting Goods, including background check. Nice walnut stock, shims to adjust fit, decent recoil pad, works good digest any load I have put through it. I doubt I will ever wear it out in my lifetime.

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
Rather than just spout my favorite, I'll add some information.
If you're shooting clays, you'll maybe be shooting 150rds a day.
You didn't specify what guage you're interested in but most sport shooters use a 12ga.
A heavy shotgun soaks up recoil better than a light one, and recoil is cumulative.
A gas operated shotgun soaks up recoil better than a intertia-driven shotty.
Intertia guns, especially the 3 1/2" guns, may not reliably cycle light sport loads.
Gas guns may need cleaning more than intertia guns.
    I shoot a Rem 11-87 just because.
If I had $ to spend, I migh buy and Win SX-2 or Browning Gold, or a Benelli Montefeltro.
In shotgunning, more than other sports, the fit is very subjective.
Rather than have fanboys spout which is their favorite, go to a reputable shop and have the employee check the fit of different sg's to see which one is the better starting point.
Maybe your range has a coach or pro that can help.

I've shot sporting clays competively for 4 years and have been named to two junior all american teams, and can honestly say that for the money the best sporting gun is a beretta 391 you can find a good used one for under $1000, yes they are a little pricey compared to a remington lets say, but the quality is much better, and aftermarket parts are easily to find(and what person on this form doesnt love aftermarket parts!) I shoot a Blaser F3 in competition, but I have many friends who shoot a 391 and swear by it

Beretta 391's are found in the winners circle at most Sporting Clays shoots. Can't go wrong with a 391.

Is this his actual Saiga? If so did he do the conversion himself or buy it like this? Sooooooooooo sexy. I love these things.

I have an old school Belgium made Browning 12 gauge semi auto and a Smith&Wesson model 1000 12 gauge semi auto. They are both great guns.
