This hitch has been stuck in the reciever and will not come out. I’ve tried hitting on it with small sledge but wouldn’t budge. I’ve also tried WD40 the seam for a few days but didn’t do anything. Seems the rust has it locked, the undercoat doesn’t help either.

Is there a better way to get it out other than chaining a tree and trying to pull it out? Thank you guys

I like the idea of chaining it up and yanking it out. If you go this route take a video for us :burnrubber:

I just don’t want to damage the frame. Beacuase it’s a drop hitch it won’t be able to pull straight out and will create forces inside of the reciever

Did you pull the cross pin out?

Yes I did, I have it in on the pic just while I’m driving around. Everytime I’ve tried to pull it out I’ve had the pin removed

I'm sure you can finagle a way to not use the ball, but the part that sticks up at the top of the drop hitch.

use heat, like a work torch to heat it up and pull it out like an old rusty bolt...

Keep hammering. Try some pb blaster or a torch to the receiver. It’ll come out

I was thinking about that as well, maybe drill a hole and chain the top of the drop

Maybe hook up a trailer with a good amount of tongue weight and see if that will break it loose?

That’s a very good idea, I’d have to remove the undercoat first just so I don’t get lung cancer. It’s a cold winter here though

You can also try to use a hammer and maybe some kind of steel or something that fits in the hitch from the backside and try hitting it out from the back. If there room under there to swing a hammer and whatnot

I don’t have a trailer, that’s why I don’t need the hitch. But also a good idea that I will look into

PB Blaster and keep whacking it with that hammer possible put a pry bar in there too. It's got to give out some time.

Now that its soaked in WD-40 try warming it up with a propane or map gas torch it doesn't have to get cherry, just warm enough that you start to see the surface rust crackle.

Is it equivalent to PB blaster or better?
