Update: I made my Fiancee drive forward a bit while I kept an eye on the front drive shaft, no movement. 4X4 does not seem to be engaged. I have done some digging on google and some point to an issue with the U-joint with the steering wheel shaft. I am going to grease that and see what happens. Appt is made with the dealer for Saturday.

Did you try the RPM test?

Yep, no change in RPM. Just lubed the u-joint for the steering column and made sure to keep an eye on the RPM. no dice.

Power steering pressure switch would be my guess then.

For anyone watching this post, I will update after I talk to the dealer. Hopefully I can solve an issue for someone in the future and/or present.

My rack failed a few months back at 25k and was denied warranty for modifications. Front bumper, bad alignments.

Here's a pic of that switch...might just be a loose connection.

This will sound weird, but I have had similar experience with odd steering issues.

Have you switched fuel octane or brand recently?

Nope. 87 octane from Costco. That's all I have put in it. Also I don't care how weird it sounds I'm open to any suggestion.

OP - first sorry to hear about this on new new truck, sucks. I am intrigued to hear what the dealer finds. Secondly, Mexico vs Texas thing, I do not believe that has any thing to with any issues on the truck. There has not been any definitive answesr on whether the quality is better form one over the other. However, you can check your Vin. If it starts with a "5" it is Texas and if it starts with a "3" it is Mexico.

Good to know. I'm hoping it is just a bad switch or loose connection, but hey warranty is there for a reason. The Dealer I went to is well known for taking care of their customers so I know they will make it right if it is a bigger deal than I think.

I had a similar issue with my FJ, even though it had a manual transfer case. Whenever I would shift on the fly, in or out of 4WD, it didn't seem to disengage fully. To remedy this, when engaging 4WD, I come to a complete stop, place it in neutral or park, select 4WD, wait for it to engage electronically (flashing light and clicking), then place it in drive. Same for disengaging it. On a few occasions, when disengaging, placing it in reverse instead of drive has been helpful to ensure it's completely out of 4WD.

Edit: I didn't add the video to be a smart ass. It shows the 4WD indicator light and clicking behavior.

Editing out my long winded response. I correctly engaged and disengaged my 4x4 Monday morning. Same way as video (not offended by it's addition btw). Tuesday evening when I got to my neighborhood I noticed the issue. Did not have any issues between monday morning and Tuesday evening. I will still give the reverse thing a shot cause why not. Also my steering wasn't this difficult even when I was using 4x4.

Ok for anyone still following this thread, I got the call back from the dealership a couple hours ago. The issue I am having is that my power steering pump is failing. For the Mexico vs Texas factory people, my truck was built in Texas. (I guess a win for the Mexico crowd.) The new pump is on order, should have my truck back by mid-week! Thanks to everyone that assisted me on this forum, I appreciate everyone's help.

As a side note, my truck was a part of the recent brake master cylinder recall, so that is also being fixed while they have it.

What are they doing to fix the brake recall? The notice I have says no remedy available yet. If they are putting a new MC on are they sure its a good part number?

I will have to call them tomorrow to ask this. The guy that checked me in just said my truck qualified for the recall and that they would fix the issue while they had it.
