Not the outside where it is held by something the lips of the seals yes. But there are a lot of aftermarket seals these days coming pre greased especially from fel-pro.

Yeah I saw it! The FSM was talking about the lips that contact the CV. The grease that he put on the outer part was just for ease of installation.

Yeah I know! That’s what I was talking about the whole time. I just meant I haven’t been doing that, so maybe doing that will help me install it more precisely this time so I don’t drive it too deep.

Ah got ya now i know what you are saying. Yeah it isn't a requirement to do. If you look the grease part is step 2 after installation of seal lol.

I wish I could give you some tips but there really isn't any except make sure you get it square in the hole and just light taps until its the proper depth checking it often like Timmay did. I like his videos he does a good job and backs what he is saying with actual documents not just shadetree shit.

What seal are you using Toyota or aftermarket? I find aftermarket seals tend to be shit. I blew my driver's side inner axle seal last winter took it to Toyota cause it was -19 so fuck working on shit, hasn't leaked since.

I was going to say the same thing. I really like Fel-Pro, SKS, Beck-Arnley, Timkin etc. There are a bunch of good seal companies out there just stay away from the cheap ones. Most of the Japanese vehicles their seals are probably made by a company like Timkin. Fel-Pro is the ones who have made updated gaskets for vehicles that factory seals had issues with Ford comes to mind. Now ford uses their designs. Can you get a bad set sure I've had it happen, also have made mistakes in installation too causing them to leak.

Sks is considered I high end seal here, felpro is the cheapo brand, after having 3 pan gaskets go in 3 weeks on my crx autox machine I swore I'd never use fel pro again spent the 170$ at Honda for one of their gaskets never leaked again all 4 installations were done in the same manner. With Japanese vehicles I always use OEM seals. Especially if it's a pain in the ass area. Ie I used one on my 2tr valve cover before the engine took a huge dump. Lol it was only 60$ though

Fel-Pro has different lines of gaskets and they do have some cheap stuff that I too stay away from.

They all do it come to you get what you pay for. Did 3 output seals on a 972 t case because 5he customer wanted the 200 dallor sks seal insteal of the 700 dallor one that is recomended.

I want a big plot of land to "justify" buying a mid sized tractor and an excavator.

I only use oem seals. I’ve got another one on the way already since it’s only $16 through Amazon. I’ll replace it soon enough.

I didn't do any of this lol I just hammered that bich in with a piece of 2'' pvc with a coupling on the end. wasn't sure how far in it was suppose to go, so I guessed and guessed right lol I think I left it a little further out cuz I was tooo scared to put it too far inward and end up with a randy

“Pulling a randy” can mean so many things now. Ripping mirrors off, leaky CV seals, denting bedsides. The list goes on.
