Just took my 2011 to the dealer , clunking when 4wd is disengaged. Was told this was normal ....the last time I had a problem I told them it was not steering right.. they put new front brakes and did an alignment ... 2 months later the steering shaft was gone!!!!! So I will just have to drive it till it breaks , hopefully it is normal !

A "clunk" when disengaging 4wd and going back into 2wd is completely normal...sometimes it's barely noticeable, sometimes it's rather big and unnerving...it's just the way it disengages. I've found that disengaging while coasting in a straight line is the best way to avoid the clunk, or disengaging while stopped. Avoid turning when doing so. But to a degree it's unavoidable and likely to clunk to some extent most times.
