I recently bought a 2004 4X4 single cab. It had 35K miles on it and the body was in pristine condition. I previously owned the same back in '05, sold (200Kmiles) because my daughter was 'learning' to drive and didn't wish to learn on a stick. My concern now is …….because it's 14 years OLD …… will I be still able to get repair parts ??(Timing belt/chain, gaskets, belts) ??? My wife 03' Chevy Tracker just bit the dust because local Chevy dealer says they don't have parts anymore ????

    Welcome!

I don’t think you will have too many issues finding parts. It’s a very popular truck, and there is no shortage of 1st gens still on the road today. As long as there is a market for parts, companies will still make them.

Nearly all parts are easy to get still. Maybe a few things that are only aftermarket but I can't think of them off the top of my head. Some things like new OEM body panels or interior trim would be hard to come by but the mechanical parts are mostly still available through Toyota. So many of these trucks still on the road that there has to be.

I'm actually on my 3rd,1st gen Tacoma. I could easily afford something newer, but just couldn't make myself give up ease or repairs a part availability.

Congrats on the low mileage find btw. I found mine (04 4x4 v6 TRD Tacoma) in 2016 with 24k miles on it. At 75k now and she drives like a champ despite the constant offroad beating I put on her. I maintain her very well though.

Make sure you inspect the lower ball joints as they are a known weak point on these trucks and a failure while driving could be catastrophic. Some even had recalls on them which would still be in effect today if it was never performed. Also I assume the frame is in good shape since you bought it but be sure to check...they like to rust to pieces in certain parts of the country.
