Traded in for a Tundra. Couldn't stand the rough ride anymore (Almost lost control on the highway a couple of times on a bumpy curve because of how it bounces.) and that new drive train is a dog. Thought I would get use to it but didnt happen. That third generation was my 5th Tacoma and probably my last. Thanks to those in here that have helped me is the past here. So far very happy with the Tundra. MPG sucks but rides much better and power is great!

Thought I was one of the only ones who thought it bounces a shit ton hitting bumps on curves as well. Gotta say your gripes are the same as mine. Tundra is a smooth ride but just a little too outdated and of course the mpg sucks.

I’m sure you’ll get a lot of shit from some members here, but whatever. Your truck, your money. Better to be happy with something you’re driving everyday and paying good money for. I’m probably going to dump mine next year.

I added a 2018 tundra to the fleet and kept the second gen taco 2015... The tundra is a VERY different ride and overall truck. The mileage is less but not as bad as everyone thinks. I usually get 17/20 on the taco and I get 15/19 on the tundra. Is the tundra out dated? I have one simple answer for you. The 2015 was out dated and a dinosaur when I bought it. The third gens are finally getting the bugs worked out, but the road has been bumpy to say the least. I wanted the 5.7 and the truck platform that has been built for 10 years because they have had time to iron out the issues and I know what I bought. New engines, transmissions, and super fancy dashboards? Not for this guy. $42K is a shit ton of money for a truck. If you want to pay to be a beta tester and then get the run around from a dealer when it isn't what you thought it was gonna be then go for it. If I sold my 2015 taco it would take about 5 mins to get a buyer. I still prefer the looks of my 2nd gen to the third gen, but that is me, and these are my opinions.

We always tell people if they want more power, get the Tundra. OP did just that. Congrats!

My dinosaur is running a 380Hp v8, can pull 10k pounds, and gets 2 mpg less than a taco. Meanwhile you can play football in the back seat. The 4.6 tundra will probably match the mileage and price of the new taco.

Hey, if the Taco wasn't for you, then that's ok.

The Tundra's nightmarish MPG and ludicrous size, though, would steer me somewhere else.

Could you have put in aftermarket suspension to fix these woes?

Hope that’s not a silly question. I’m not an automotive guy, but my Tacoma May make me one sooner or later.

Guessing it was the Sport? Ride is sooo much better on the Off-Road!

Either way, can't go wrong with a Tundra!

the 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 was so bouncy I almost lost control on the interstate on a big dip at 70. It felt like the front tires were in the air. I know they weren't, but that made me sell it. The PRO over the same dip, "what dip"?

I was given a tundra SR5 as a dealer loaner recently: most primitive beast there ever was. It made my workplace's field F-350 look sophisticated enough for the opera by comparison. The thing floated over the road in the exact manner as my old 1984 Fleetwood, like a cruise ship. It was eerie being that disconnected from the road

But there are tons of people that love them for that reason. It's meant to be a draft horse, not a grand tourer, they say. If that's your thing, there isn't a reason not to buy one.

Congrats on the new beast

Same reasoning led me to buy a 2015 ACLB this past April.
Much love for the Tundra though...it was my first truck in 2002, but the wife hated it for some reason. Would love to add a Tundra to the fleet. Congrats , you'll love it!

I probably could have but would have been very expensive and more than likely would really hurt the resale value. Besides that, I got tired of having to downshift going up hills with an automatic just to feel any acceleration.
