Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Any "settling in" over that distance? Like throttle feel changing etc?

Oh and.... what I really want to hear - any hint of stuttering/surging, during warm up etc?

 

I'm running 1.04 87 tune just so you know.

 

I can't wait for 1.05 myself.

 

Ideally -

Make a few slight improvements to the 5.7 and add some extra gears to make the EPA happy.

Add a TT v6 or something for the people that just want a more economical jumbo grocery getter and don’t actually use their truck.

I’m not opposed to a hybrid Tacoma in the future but hopefully they do a better job than they did with the tuning and power train configuration of the 3rd gen. It’s definltey not for everyone but if its done right it could be pretty awesome.

wow, 235 miles per gallon.

 

Let me say as someone coming from a 2016 Ram 3500 Cummins (900 Ft/lbs torque) that all the companies seem to have EPA debauchery going on, Ram only offers 3.42 gears on single rear wheel trucks and had the most insane throttle nanny.

I joke with my family that it reminds of the big block Corvette's of the late 70's, a 454 V8 that had like 179 HP

 

10 easily but let’s not forget this not the full 1.05 version as he wanted highway testing. I really think a lot of you will be pleased enough that regearing may not be a must have if your on the highway a lot with 33’s. If you need more low end I’m sure 5.29’s would benefit and hold higher gears in hills. I’m really impressed with how I can give ease in the throttle and accelerate without it hitting 4th . Driving in S mode is really smooth also but again it’s not fully locked on the test version. Oh yeah the 3-5 mpg improvement on the highway is a nice feature

 

Well...now the anticipation is even worse. Man 1.05 will surely make a sweet Christmas gift

 

This is great news,however not all of us bought the tune solely for better MPG's and driveability. I knew that by getting larger tires,adding weight ect. I was going to take a hit in MPG's. What I hoped for when I purchased the tune was extra power and performance to move the added weight,if I end up getting both I will be ecstatic....

 

Everyone should go ahead a get a Big Red Bow ready and put it on your truck next Tuesday night because it’s truly a new truck. It does exactly what I tell it to do. That little hesitation when you hit is obsolete and although the roads have been wet that one time I pushed ect and slapped her over to S hit 90 very fast and it shifted almost instantly when I tapped forward . That powerband feeling I use to get every now and then sort of felt like it was there the whole way !!! I dig it and give this test nothing but positive’s!

 

Like I said I have a dumbed down file so I can’t say how the much power you’ll gain but from what I’ve seen on the upper side I’m sure with the locking mode you’ll gain a substantial amount

 

I’m going out to put a bow on my truck now in anticipation of Christmas coming early!
