The Tacomas serve their purpose but it's a toy truck not a work truck. Look around you, the overall fanboy crowd is a little on the immature side. There's a reason chicks dig big trucks with big engines and jeeps. Enjoy your Tacoma, it looks clean and hopefully your transmission doesn't drive you bonkers after 10k miles like mine has.

Bought a new 2019 Tacoma Cavalry Blue DCSB 4x4 OR and just wanted to provided a little perspective for those considering a Tacoma. While the Silverado was spacious, comfortable, had pleantry of room for huntin dawgs n gear and could tow an elephant to Alaska, it was a TERRIBLE off-road vehicle. I buried that beast to the axles more than once without even trying and almost lost that rig on a muddy hillside road while huntin in Colorado. Despite having four wheel drive, 4:11s, and a posi-trac rear end —an off road vehicle it was NOT.

And while my lifted 1999 TJ was fun as hell, had almost every cool add-on in the Quadratec Catalogue that I could afford, and was a blast to drive (even the 21 year-old college cutie next door described as “sick” and asked to borrow it more than once), that damn thing had more rattles and squeaks than a new born baby, the heat never really worked right, the AC was a joke, and if you just thought about the Dana 35s with 33s you ran the risk of breaking an axle. Worst of all, I could barely fit a dog, gear, and a gun in it without having to tie my wife and thermos to the top of the roll bar!

So now I got this “Taco” (not sure I’ll ever get used to that name however) and I’m loving it! Despite looking like it’s made from recycled Coors cans once you dig into it, it’s roomy, sporty, quiet, easy to drive, has great storage, handles well, has plenty of power for a small truck, and seems to be a well designed vehicle. It’s got a locker, decent ground clearance, more electronic stuff on it than when Neil Armstrong went to the moon and seems to be a very off road capable vehicle. The instrument cluster is well laid out, I’ve had no problems with pairing my iPhone with radio (and I’m old enough to have used a typewriter), navigation works better than my compass and map, gas mileage is good, heat works, ac works, and as soon as my new Owens dual dog box arrives, I’ll be able to load both bird dawgs up, throw in some gear and a few guns, and get back to huntin.

I’ve been following this forum for a while now and seen a lot of unhappy Tacoma owners complaining bout this and that and I just end up scratching my head. Maybe it’s cause I’m more comfortable using a radio with just two knobs or that I’ve used more than my fair share of Marvel’s Mistery Oil, but some seem to have forgotten that these vehicles are mechanical machines and not some virtual car from “Gran Theft Auto.” Some of ya all got legit complaints (like paint, for example...) but others... I’m just not sure what to think or what you expected from a TRUCK? I’ve owned Broncos, Jeeps, Toys, Chevys, Fords, and even an ole’ International Scout (for those of you who don’t know, a Scout was basically a John Deer Tractor disguised as a “TRUCK.” Finally, you’d never catch me dead in a Subraru.

My biggest complaint for the G3 Taco is that while the internet is runnin amuck with photos of highly talantented and beautiful women posing next to Jeeps and other lifted trucks, it’s seems to be quite thin on such fine and upstanding individuals posing next to Toyota Tacomas. Not to mention the whole “topless” thing Jeeps go going.

So what gives? Even the neighbor only waves from a distance now that the Jeeps gone...

lmfao No, I've owned 2 3rd gens and a 2nd gen. Totaled one 3rd on black Ice with 45k on it, and bought another one.
