What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

these came from Bulgaria today. Also grabbed a set of headlight buckets from a member here and gave a set of rims to another member. And tomorrow I pass on a cb to another member here.. now I need a headlight harness upgrade and thinking about blinker relocating to corner lights...and have bed lights and 20" lightbar to install..

 

True, but you aren't the first. There is certainly lots of experience with this topic.

 

I love mine. I had to get the rest of the fleet upgraded...

No, I did not do a harness upgrade.

 

Really ? Just plug and play. No issues with wires melting?

 

All factory wires. The GE +120 Wattages are the same as factory. As a matter of fact my favorite bulbs, the now discontinued Osram 64205 were 70/65W and never had an issue. I could have possibly gained some lumens with a harness upgrade to decrease the voltage drop but never bothered. Long story short, you will be just fine.

Your stock wiring are limiting your new headlight bulbs. The replacement wiring kit has larger gauge wires that are capable of carrying more amperage which will unlock the full potential of those high wattage bulbs.

 

That was my thought too. I figured even if they weren't all that great I was still money ahead if I would have bought some overpriced Silverstars. If Daniel Stern recommends them they are good. Granted they still aren't factory HID but still an upgrade.

 

They aren't higher wattage.

 

I might still do the harness upgrade. Wife is on my ass for a Christmas gift. It's cheap and useful.

$103 viair 88p portable compressor kit (12V, 120 psi, forup to 33" tires)

I live in earthquake country, so I gotta have some goodies for my commute if it happens.and thinking about a 2nd battery for shits and giggles.

This is true. The Depo's have an inferior reflector that is playing a role in this.

 

My tyc we're better than my stock housings. Poor marks for depo perhaps?

 

I'm pretty sure it's all the same Chinese kids making them, could be the difference between the low buck and the CAPA certified parts though, both have tiers
