(EDIT: A possible fix noted below).

    Model 28.71988
    Seen here:
    http://powertool.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/sears/2871988.html
    Photo Below.

I neglected to charge this item every month, as instructions state, and so the battery no longer took or held a charge, at all.
I bought a replacement of good quality and matching the required 22 mah (EDIT: S/B 22 Amp Hours).
After charging the 36 hours after installing, I get an error not listed in the manual.
A few seconds after I turn on the "Inverter" I get a high pitched alarm and the display shows "OL". I assume overload.

Instructions state to connect device, turn on the inverter switch, then the device.
If error "ERRRR" shows quickly switch inverter switch off/on.
    I did that.
I have turned it on without and with a device attached.
I have turned it on, with device attached, and then turned on the device.

No change. The replacement battery company is willing to replace the battery, but I told them I would rather know it is the battery first. They asked me to take it for a 'Load Test' and email them the result.
Great customer support from Mighty Max.

Is there anything else I can do.... before I throw it out if the battery I bought is good????
I would like the inverter to work.

    Thanks,
    Ken in NC

Is there a way you could temporarily jump another battery in place of the one inside? If it is a 12v battery, you could try it with your truck. I assume the 22mah spec you refer to is a misprint.

Yeah my memory of 22 something, too lazy to go look. I edited the post.

I need to have jumper cables, so not right now.

This being Sears the device is not seeing your aftermarket battery no doubt looking for something the replacement battery does not have .

I ran into things like this from Sears over the years

Is the battery no longer available from Sears ??

The specs for the replacement are the same.

    Update:
I donated the one above. Waste of money and time to me.

I still have another one I had bought later. It started to 'Not hold a charge'.
The manual says to charge every 30 days.

I brought into the house and put it on to charge. It immediately said 100% and indicated charging.
The next day, when i took it off the charge, it immediately went to 98% and then lower as time passed.

For the next week or more I would put it on for a charge at least 8-10 hours. Then check it.
The next couple times it seemed to hold charge longer.
I kept cycling the charge 8-10 hours and then letting it set.

I have had it set after charging. This is the 3rd day, after the last charge, and it still shows 100%.

I wish I had tried that on the one above, and the ones I had before also.
