Jerneyman's Taco Build w/ Chevy 63 Swap and Welding Thread

Bought my 2011 Tacoma 4x4 Offroad November of 2015 and started building it almost a month later after I wrecked the front end on a doe. Luckily insurance paid out directly and I was able to purchase my first mod, my CBI Offroad Moab 2.0. Then my suspension started to sag slightly so I bought a suspension lift. And on and on it went and never stopped. I promised myself that this truck would be stock for a while, well that sure did go out the window pretty fast.

Here she is a week after I bought her.

Thanks! I'll be buying a MIG welder here in the next month or so. This truck has no idea what's coming. Haha. Planning to build some skids and put together a DIY rear bumper hopefully.

 

That'll be sweet. I'd love a welder but cannot unfortunately get one.

 

Just purchased my first welder. Its the Hobart 210 MVP. Should be coming in mid July. Plans are to build a new IFS skid plate and weld in some gussets on the spindles and alignment tabs then who knows what.

 

Here's an update. Bought my Hobart 210 MVP and built full skids and a high clearance rear bumper within the first 3 months of owning it. Needless to say, I've been welding a lot.

Antenna Mounting tabs for my CB and VHF antennas.

 

Finally got my CB mounted in the truck and my firestick installed on the new antenna mounts. Driving with them mounted on the front is not as distracting as it looks. You get used to it fairly quick.

 

Finally got around to installing a Ram Mount plate on my dash. I made this one myself and it seems to be working so far. No flex in the mount itself when the radio is mounted on the Ram arm. The cradle for the

Not built for my truck, but something I built for @whitedlite. Bed bars compatible with a bed cover. Nothing too extravagant but it’s strong and gets the job done.

3rd Gen Weld On Rock Sliders with no kickout and angled 20 degrees upward.

 

Latest trip to Windrock was a success. Got to smash my skid plates a bit and test how my welds held. Turns out they held great and kept me rolling all day.
Rear bumper was the same way, scraped it a few times and barely noticed it. Looking forward to going back soon!

 

Added hoops to my rear bumper... more like tree sliders. Still not sure if I’ll add more to it to encompass the tail lights or not.

 

Sliders recently welded on for @R4MBLN_YOTA with no kickout and a 20 degree angle.
