I was going to lay up my own carbon scoop prior to seeing this thread. I think I'll wait now. I like where you're going with the 3d mounting tabs. That is something I wouldn't have been able to do. Looks great so far!

Although the gloss coat looks nice, It looks out of place next to the matte sticker on the hood. So we are doing a DRY CARBON version right now to see how we like it.
I think it will be less flashier, more stealth. Although if people like the gloss version, I can always do a batch of those.
    It is purdy though

Totally agree with you! Having the two options will be best since there will be people like me that don't have/want the matte vinyl for now. The clear coat will also protect the carbon from sun damage. Perhaps once i see the dry carbon matching the matte vinyl i may have to get the stupid vinyl as well...LMAO

Wow that looks great! Can't wait to see the matte finish! You could always do a sanded gloss finish for the smooth look without the shine.

Make sure you UV coat that sucka! Otherwise it's going to yellow and crack. Resin + UV = :boom:

    I spy a custom insert ;)

The gloss finish doesn't blend well with the matte black vinyl, like you said...also, the glare would be a bitch due to the gloss finish.

I'm interested to see what the dry carbon will look like. I tried to wrap mine with a faux carbon fiber vinyl but my wrapping skillz are shit and it didn't turn out well.

If you don't end up making the full hoods I am going to buy a sport hood so I can rock one of those scoops. (I like the gloss BTW)

I thought about wrapping the trim pieces in a carbon fiber printed vinyl to get that look.

Making the jig so all mounting points will be indexed like factory. The 3D brackets turned out really good

I saw there’s a guy on here making aluminum door sill protectors. Is that a feasible option to make from cf? Looking at the aluminum ones they are really flat and no complex angles. Maybe add some light ribs (3) the length on the protector. I don’t know if any type of texture would be possible just to help with traction when feet are wet. I’d be in for those 100% if it’s doable.

You need to make CF hoods.
There are a number of us in this thread that will buy one. :spending:
