For what it’s worth I have a knock off grille and never used a cover. So my grille looks normal and I haven’t had any issues with my TSS and it works great

Its glossy, I think its supposed to let the radar waves and things pass through for the TSS sensor.

I was considering doing that, but since its a new truck and I'm very new to this, I wasn't willing to risk it.

yeah the garnishes are all glossy that I have seen. I'm actually going to wrap mine before I install it. I am going to put a matte clear bra over it to tone it down. may set off the warning, who knows. but the gloss is just not to my liking.

OP, can you show some pics of the back side of your grille with the lights mounted? Just curious how you mounted everything up. Thanks!

is there a reason to use amber colored lights over say the bright white LED lights? I have LED bulbs in my low/high and fog lights, just would want to carry that over to these I think. or is amber the better way to go?

Its very windy and dark out- I couldn't get a great photo, but basically I drilled a semicircle out of the plastic lip on the top of the grill, snapped/wedged the light in, and used the nuts it comes with to secure it from the back. I also attached the diagram of the light from Amazon, that should help you visualize it better.

As with the amber, 1) They look cool all the time, 2) The amber lights provide better visibility in snow, fog, and dust. The amber lights reflect off of the snow/fog less than whites, and gives more definition to what you see. In lowlight, whiteout situations, skiers use yellow googles for the same reasons, as do dirt bikers.

Quick question. As this will be my first electrical mod, do I need to worry about the alarm going off when I tie in the ground wire for the lights by loosening/retighten the battery ground on the truck?
