I have a rechargeable Streamlight Strion that I love. Also, a couple smaller aa and aaa models I use at work. I think they are a great value. Even the small ones are brighter than the mini mags by far.

I have yet to buy a Surefire, the 3 volt lithium batteries are too expensive for my taste and their rechargeables are generally more expensive than the Streamlights. The ones I have seen are quite impressive though.

candlepowerforums.com is a good way to kill some time and get an idea of what's out there in the flashlight world.

If someone had one of these Surefires for sale I wouldn't mind taking it off their hand!

it would be a few weeks until i could get to it. but think of it this way.
if you could bend, cut and weld metal (unless you have aluminum) it would be pretty easy to have a peace that bolted under the same bolt that holds the front seat down, have it come out towards the door then run back towards the rear of the seat and either have a small leg that comes down and rests on the floor or take it all the way back to the rear seat bolt. with that done you would have a small flat bar the runs the length of the seat you could mount to light to. if you make it low enough it would not affect anything. it would not have to hold much weight so it does not need to be thick or heavy. i hope this makes more sense i can envision it in my head, i may have to make on up just to show people and see what they think. i am pretty sure we could mill one up out of aluminum and make it look really cool.

Check ACE hardware or your local hardware store, ask them for the Maglite holder.

Maglite makes them. This is the D size holder:

mines just shoved under the seat. i do like the idea of the seat mounted bracket but i have the 6-d maglite and i don't think it'll fit there. i might have to take some measurements later.

Sounds like the best option for people who don't want to drill into their seats. Great idea.

On vacation in denver. Yes, still checking TW..lol.. (family sleeping)

Couldn't find the clips in Hawaii, so called over to the bass pro, and picked up the last one they had. Will be doing the "drilling-maglight mod" the day we get back.

X2 on the surefire. I have a 60 lumen one, and that thing is awesome. I hardly use it for day to day, but is great when you gotta light it up.

There are some cheapies that you can get at sams or Costco which work fine, but can/do break down over time. But for under $25 for a set of 2, what could you expect.

Sorry, but go drill... It's plastic. Plan it out, check everything twice and don't look back. If it were a lease, o.k... But if you are buying it, make it yours. I guess you could also use some epoxy, or superglue, but that could get really messy IMO...

I keep 2 flashlights in my truck. One 4D LED Maglite and a 2AA Led maglite. I suggest get LEDs due to its toughness and for longer run times. I also suggest get flashlights that can use Lithium batteries so it will not leak on hot or cold weather.
