See my other post about this. I think that 6K went to crap and taxes, and they are offering somewhere around 34K. But if that isn't the case and they are offering only 28K this is about the shittiest dealer ever.

Yep. That's my mantra now. I will only buy what I want. Within my means of course. If I can't swing the purchase at the moment, then I wait and take actions to be able to afford it. And you're right, Life is too freaking short to have regrets.

I'm sure the $6k he put down only covered the sales tax, registration and doc /dealer fees.

In CA your looking at 9 - 10% sales tax and about $500 - $600 on registration. That money doesn't got to lower the principle of the truck.

You think you feel bad... I bought this Ridgeline on a impulse after going to the Sock and Sandals store.

What in the hell could cost 6K in addition to the 40K “before taxes” purchase... that’s the crime here. TTL; delivery fees (aka, additional dealer ripoff); maybe extended warranty; gap insurance... all BS (except TTL). I want to see the purchase agreement and invoice... then we can all gang up on that crooked dealership. BTW, my TTL + BS delivery fees totaled ~$1500 above agreed upon similar 40K purchase price in NM.

HaHaHa. You're right. The new thing the CA gov is going to try is to put a tax on every text message sent. Have to see if they get it though.
The best part is the Gov. Elect came out and said, "I'm Going to raise your taxes" and people still voted for him.

Sounds like some driving lessons are in order. If you can’t drive a 4x2 truck in CALIFORNIA, I would suggest making sure you stay here. You ever see all those poor little FWD cars on the east coast driving in the snow? (Yes I know big bear requires them). It can and is done a lot. Don’t give into the hype of a 4x4 if you don’t need it (yes, there are some areas that do....SoCal isn’t really one of them).

Maybe keep a 2x6 in your truck for the sand if you are planning to do that and possibly some straps.

Now, to be fair, if it comes down to you just wanting a 4x4 and you are looking for excuses as to why you need one, that is a completely different story. At that point, just take the hit and get one. These trucks aren’t cheap so make sure you have what you want.

65AE8FDA-B15E-4D7A-9BAA-65C2A498D597.jpg I personally bought my 2wd taco on purpose. I don’t off-road with a nice truck. Just personal opinion. My two cents would be keep your 3rd for just driving places and looking pretty on the asphalt and get a older Tacoma or 4wheeler for off-road use. Just how I roll I know it’s not a very popular opinion but that’s what i do and tow my 4wheeler the trails. But otherwise if you want to use your taco. Just know your trucks limits and use it.
