The road South from Bahia de los Angeles is graded dirt and meets the El Arco/San Francisquito road where you can get back on Hwy 1 for San Ignacio and La Paz. This was all stuff I hoped you would see in my Trip reports. Don't try and cram in stuff. Save L.A. Bay for another trip. Days are short, you lose an hour at the Baja Sur border going into Mountain Time. Post as you can or email me at info at vivabaja.com.

If you have a map that shows pavement south of L.A. Bay and then no road from San Francisquito to Hwy 1, throw that map away!
You need to head straight to La Paz from San Felipe to be there by Saturday. Drive the mile to the beach at Gonzaga Bay just to see it from the gas station, second left. Then head for Guerrero Negro. It is whale season so rooms may be hard to find. There is a campground at the whale watching place, 15 miles from Hwy 1, south of Guerrero Negro.

Good to know. Any idea how long we should expect going from San Felipe to Bahia?

Are you recommending we aim to arrive in Guerrero negro today?

Hi again, let's backtrack... you need to be in La Paz Saturday afternoon, right? So how much can you drive Saturday morning?

Loreto to La Paz is 216 miles or about 4 hours average driving time in Baja.

San Ignacio to Loreto is 166 miles or about 3 hours driving (no stopping to see any sites).

Guerrero Negro to San Ignacio is 91 miles or 2 hours almost. Be careful of speeding south of Guerrero Negro, Highway Patrol uses radar and the speed limit is 80 kph (50 mph) even though it is a straight and level road.

The end of Hwy. 5, south of Gonzaga Bay at Hwy. 1 (Laguna Chapala) to Guerrero Negro is 109 miles (2 hours).

San Felipe to Gonzaga Bay and on to Hwy. 1 is about 130 miles, 100 paved. Lots of detours from the Oct. 1 flash flood the destroyed the bridges south of Puertecitos. Say 4 hours.

You decide if you can see L.A. Bay or watch some whales south of Guerrero Negro with the half day not needed for driving. Laguna Chapala to L.A. Bay is about 70 miles (1.5 hours).

That you are still in San Felipe at 9 am is concerning... Just slow down and enjoy what you can. Or, leave Cabo early enough to spend a few days coming back.

Will do! Missed that first tag somehow.

It was overall excellent of course. 3 weeks all-in. Many thanks for your planning assistance.

Time to get the kiddo up and ready for school. More details to come...
