2014 2wd 4dr short bed is such a pig in the rain. Zero traction with stock tires and 200 lbs of sand in the rear. Is there a solution other than trading it off?

Get better tires. Are you just spinning the tires all over?

lighter foot? what kind of tires are you running? These trucks shouldn't be breaking loose in the rain that easily

2 1/2 years ago you were considering new tires. Did you ever replace them?

Edit: I guess it's going to be another 2 1/2 years before we hear from him. See you in 2021.

Measure your tread depth - thanks to the lightweight bed, once the tires are at a depth of less than 5/32nds, their SAFE useful life is gone. That's probably true in all cars and trucks, but unlike other trucks SUVs and cars, the lightweight rear end requires for the tires to be replaced more frequently to have a safe driving experience in all weather.

UV kills them too if you are parked outside all day. Truck tires are certainly only 3 year tires if they are baking in UV all day every day, from all angles. They harden up, becoming less pliable even at warm temperatures above 55 F.

Also, set your PSIs once per month. My tires which were only 1 year old were giving me traction issues while lightly accelerating from a stop, on dry pavement. My PSIs dropped to less than 30 in the back. Reset them all to 30 F(ront) / 33 R(ear), and everything was fine.

If you're still running the stock Dunlop AT20s, they are HOT GARBAGE - I drove the truck in the rain exactly one time with them and immediately was on tirerack ordering new tires when I got home from that trip.

    You need better tires.

Or you just have too heavy of a foot.
Let torque drive you not HP

You have a rear wheel drive vehicle that is very light in the back end. If your tires aren't sticky they will spin in the rain. Nature of the beast.

Tires.... Pressure... Mine are getting worn and old. They are like bowling balls some times. Especially on the pavement markings.
