They ran my credit when I specifically stated I did not want it ran and turned the application into a “customer profile” so I would not notice that I was approving them to run my credit. Take into consideration this is a very large dealership in a relatively low income area. I asked to see the numbers for my truck such as total multiple times and they refused so I got up and left. On my way out I grabbed a manager and explained my situation because I did not want this to be a complete waste of a hard inquiry on my credit. He seemed kind of enough at the moment and “helped” me out. He set me up with a deal that in the moment seemed good, at this point I had been at the dealer for roughly 5 plus hours, tired, hungry. I asked what the lowest payment would be with my down payment ($6k) and he showed me $710 for 72 on a piece of paper. I asked ok how much for the warranties. He quoted me at $750. Yes I could’ve figured this out by simpling pulling out a calculator and doing the math but like I said I had been there all day, my phone was way past dead. $40 extra a month for all these extras I told him sign me up. I get home to see that my payment could’ve been $550 without extras, $200 a month extra for warranties?? I don’t want to say it is as fact but I’m almost convinced they showed me different numbers than the contract they sent me home with. And all this is on top of it not being 4x4. So troll away, let’s hear it.

So you are paying $57,126 for a 2wd truck. You still owe $51,126 on this truck.

There is nothing to troll here. Mistakes were made. Rectify it and move on with life. Consider it a lesson learned.

I think you made the biggest mistake you could ever make, you were shopping based on payment and not the actual price of the truck, this is sure way of getting ripped off at any dealership.

Edit: With those details I actually do feel sorry for you, this sort of thing happens a hell of a lot more frequently than you think.

Yup, I've learned that lesson the hard way myself. Fortunately the vehicle at the time was half the cost of a new Tacoma but nonetheless...it sucks to learn lessons like that the hard way with thousands on the line.

Salesmen absolutely love it when someone comes in negotiating based on monthly payments...so many ways they can "trick" you into getting what you think is a great deal until you realize it wasn't.

And it's usually not the salesmen you have to worry about, their schtick is easy to recognize. It's the finance dept. guys that are the real snakes. Doesn't matter what you and the salesperson negotiated, if you don't watch the finance guy like a hawk then they will pull one over on you.

I have some bumpers to sell you that will turn that 2WD into a 4x4. I'll even sell them to you at MSRP. :spending:

Seriously though, I feel bad for you. Making a big purchase when tired and hungry is never a good idea. Always go get dinner first.

    REFINANCE THAT BITCH PRONTO!!!

If you're military, there are other legal protections that can come to your rescue.

You were preyed upon, and were a partially willing victim though you may not have realized it at the time. The only way out of this contract is to pay that note off ASAFP.

Best thing you can do if you’re going to payments is getting the price of the truck negotiated down and telling the dealer if you fianance you will not be doing it through them. Go to your bank and take a loan on the amount you don’t put down. That’s how I did my truck atleast and ended up with a reasonable interest rate too. Somewhere around 3.8%

In this case, the salesperson should have bought him dinner first.

@TRDAl You should be able to cancel the extended warranties. If they are pro-rated they will subtract the amount of time that was covered, and will refund the rest warranty amount to the loan company directly. After that is done and the amount you owe is lowered you can refinance (preferably with a credit union). Once you do that if you're still ready for a 4x4 it will be easier to get into after you take all of these steps and get the total amount owed knocked down significantly.

This, especially if you're not planning to keep the truck into that extended warranty time frame anyway.

Not to rub salt in this wound, but damn. I was feeling a little remorseful for my recent buy, I thought my deal for $37,500 OTD incl ttl and the platinum warranty and got my 2019 dclb 4x4 off-road tech and premium package was not the greatest after I drove home. I kept running the scenario in my mind on how I could have held out for more. In the end, you got a truck you’re gonna enjoy and payments you found acceptable in the moment. Hopefully it’s not too much of a drag to drive in sunny so cal where you’ll need 4x4 like never. I just got it for peace of mind and the desire to off-road more secluded areas. I did fine in my 2006 tundra dc I traded in for the new taco. Got into some great places despite lacking 4x4.
The positive is if you keep her off dirt she won’t make weird squeaky sounds every time you turn or brake.

You got hosed, but you also voluntarily signed a number of papers to close the deal. Ignorance is not bliss.

OP what was the interest on the loan? Did you have bad credit? 710 is a huge monthly payment, I'd get a refinance through a credit union, but if your credit is bad they may not give it to you
