Hey all,my dad has an 2012 fj, stock except for the 275/70/17 bfg at ko2. Dealership told him shocke were leaking and they wanted $1000 to replace them!! I've done enough on my taco to do a swap on the fj, just wanted opinions on replacemene shocks. Mostly highway, some light offroading. Are the bilstiens the way to go? Thanks!!

You know the answer. Can’t go wrong with bilsteins in that scenario.

I went with the Toytec BOSS setup on my '14 a couple years ago. Fronts are adjustable and I added Superflex springs in the rear.

Lifted a couple inches and it sits right now with a slight rake. Ride quality is much improved, getting rid of the notorious "FJ Dip" while braking and accelerating. I'm running 275's as well.
Couldn't stand the mushy stock setup.

It took longer to adjust the front height and even it out than it did for the install.

Don’t get me wrong, there are better setups out there. Question is, how much do you want to spend on a daily driver with occasional off road use? Bilsteins are a good value in that scenario. Definitely want a spacer for the driver side to eliminate the FJ lean if you go with non-adjustable option though.

My 2014 FJ has 2.5” Radflo extended travel all the way around with adjustable coil overs up front and 3” lift springs in the back. This rig was built primarily for off road use. I wouldn’t spend that kind of money on suspension otherwise.

I hear you man. Height adjustment was a long and tedious process...

I have a 08 fj 4wd and I am thinking of installing the shocks/coil from a trd off rd 2017 Tacoma...
I do have a two in. spacer on the fj with the stock shocks and coils now...
The Tacoma shocks seem to have a 1in spacer on it...
has any one done this install or seen it or any advise ?
